The Economics Equation By Salena Zito
It's the economy, stupid -- again.
Americans are more worried about their pocketbooks than the war in Iraq or Iran's nuclear program, suggests a recent poll by the New Democratic Network.
"The economy is the sleeper issue in the American electorate," says network head Simon Rosenberg.
William Beach, director of the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation, agrees: "If there is enough evidence of weakening, then economic questions will be more prominent than they would otherwise have been."

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." Hillary Clinton.
If people are concerned about the economy, these quotes ought to help them decide how to vote.

The economy is in very good shape. We will get through the subprime crisis. Where are the Republicans in all of this.
They should be bragging about how well we are doing and how resilent our economy is. Instead, once again the RNC and the Republicans in Congress have let the left convince almost everyone that the economy is in very bad shape and another Great Depression is just around the corner (unless Hillary is elected President.
If the economy is in bad shape, it’s because of the Democrats in control of Congress. Where is the lower gas price price they promised? The jobs? The faster wage growth? The more affordable college? The balanced budget?
As politicians like to say we have a global economy. And they have said that for so long, it is now probably true. It would seem that the declining dollar is a bad thing, but when it to economics what seems might be true, isn’t always true. If the rest of the world is starting to whine about the low value of the dollar, then maybe things are better here than they appear.
Don’t go to the bank with that one.
Yes, our exports will increase but ... cost of imports will increase, and since a very large part of our imports is oil, we’ll be looking at higher and higher oil prices as the dollar declines and the oil exporting countries move off the dollar.
Thirty years ago I was just another stupid hippie who kneejerk voted for any promise of Free Stuff from the government. I am no economist or pundit. All that I can tell you for sure is that, from the first Reagan term to the present day, while hordes of “experts” great and small were shrieking doom, gloom and depression, I turned a small teacher’s salary into what many would consider to be a fortune. If you listen to people with an axe to grind, the times are always bad and doom is just around the corner. The truth is that fortune passes everywhere and there is always opportunity if you’re willing to search for it.

I keep posting, the isseu next year will not be the war but the recession and the dems are not positioned to argue that issue. In fact, thier base insists on only one issue, forcing us to lose the war.
