NEW YORK (AP) -- Twenty years after her allegations of a racially charged rape became a national flash point, Tawana Brawley's mother and stepfather want to reopen the case, a newspaper reported Sunday.
Glenda Brawley and Ralph King want to press New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to re-examine the November 1987 incident, which a state grand jury ultimately concluded was a hoax, the Daily News reported.

I know there are some good people in NY and bless 'em but a state that puts the likes of Clinton, Scummer and Spitter in office, well, the good people of that state need to walk and let the rats gnaw on each other.

Ah, yes, the distressed voice of endless entitlement. They “owe” her daughter. By “New York,” of course, the family means everyone with money.
You know, if there was slightest shred of real evidence that Tawana Brawley was raped and abused, I’d be in her corner fighting for justice. However, the real evidence points to the whole incident being lies, which means, ironically enough, that those who are lied about recieved the equivalent of rape and abuse from Tawana. I’d change my name, too. Scary to think that she’s a nurse somewhere, though.

When I was a detective, a lot of bogus claims fell apart under investigation. Nice to know someone out there is ready to second-guess, though.

On Miss Brawley's torso, above and below her breasts, racial slurs had been scrawled in charcoal or with a felt tip pen. These said "nigger," "KKK" and "nigger ete (expletive)" with the word "ete" obviously a misspelling of "eat." The writing was in block letters, not handwriting that might have been traceable.How does a New York cop spell "eat"? How does a 15-year-old homie spell it?

On Monday, Mrs. Brawley was found in contempt of court for refusing to testify before a special grand jury in Poughkeepsie that is investigating an assertion that her daughter, Tawana, was abducted and raped by a gang of white men last November. Mrs. Brawley was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $250, the maximum penalty. snip

Perhaps you are correct. I believe some of the alleged facts of the Brawley case are similar to a kidnapping and rape of a young black woman recently in West Virginia. Reopening the Brawley case might piggyback on the WV case and give rise to more cries of racism - just before elections.
I’m curious as to the underlying motive for reopening this case after 20 years and the lawsuits.
It seems the only black woman harmed in this whole charade was the departed Mrs. King. Yet 9 out 10 people don't even know that aspect of the story. The 1 out of 10 who do, try to suppress it.
The simple fact of the matter is that she went out and played party-girl for 4 days, and instead of owning up to her actions, she played the race/rape card to get out of it. And for the most part, she succeeded wildly...JFK

One should NEVER show compassion for those who attempted to ruin or destroy the lives of others -- for their own "gain".. Compassion for such, only encourages more of the same.... This is CLEARLY one of the reasons that skank who cry Hoax Rape - should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law...
Oh God! Not again! This is 20 years ago! I read that Tawana Brawley’s parents have an outstanding warrant for ignoring the subpoena.
