'The cave, made up of tunnels between three and five kilometres long, is a virtual labyrinth eight metres below ground.'
Wow.

What kind of strata? If this tunnel complex was dug in hard rock, then that make this more impressive. Regardless, this reflects a lot of hard work and commitment to the task.

No, but there was a map on one wall with an arrow pointing to a spot labeled “You are here”.

I apologise. Those etchings were made by my ex mother in law.

Heh.
That goes to show you. You have to ensure you completely seal the basement. If you don’t, who knows where your chained up ex mother in law ends up.

Another wall has what appears to be the earliest known game of Hangman.

This is great news.. perhaps the Mexican government can hire its own people to do more reserach on this great discovery...instead of sending them north..

If you get a chance to visit Guatemala today, hopefully in between the times when they are slaughtering each other, there is something striking in the appearance of the people.
They either look like Mayans, or they look like Olmecs.
That is, they look like the Mayans depicted on codex scrolls, carvings and paintings, or they look much like the giant basalt stone heads left behind by the Olmecs. Rounder heads, with flatter, almost negroid noses.
Having been there, I’ve reached the conclusion that if Guatemala was managed by Germans, it would be heaven. But as it is, it is heaven in the midst of the civil war between the angels.
