Hello New Mexico FReepers!
We're putting together confirmed locations for Move America Forward's "Honoring Our Heroes at the Holidays Tour" and I'm looking for some guidance/input on where we should hold our 2 New Mexico events.
We'll be in New Mexico on Saturday, December 1st:
12:30 PM Alamogordo, Pro-Troop NM Rally - I was wondering if there might be a good area for people to gather outside the front gates of Holloman Air Force Base?
Or are there other locations in the city (such as a park) that you all would recommend?
5:00 PM Roswell, NM Pro-Troop Rally - Need input on Roswell, especially. I don't know what a good venue for a "support the troops" event would be?
To give you an idea of what one of these events looks like, here's the media coverage we received from our Sacramento, CA event: SEE THE NEWS COVERAGE - CLICK HERE
Post or FReep Mail me with any suggestions or info...
THANK YOU!!

Maybe the old airbase in Roswell? Afraid I’m not that familar with the parks, etc. there.
I was down in Roswell on some business back in August and I remember seeing a giant park right across the street from NMMI. I don’t know if its a city park or if it belongs to NMMI but I would think it would be an ideal place.
Can’t help but will bump.
Not sure what’s available in the 4 Corners/Farmington, Aztec, Bloomfield, Shiprock area but would be willing to check
IF
you think y’all would be up this way.
Park adjacent to NMMI would work for Roswell.
Sorry that I can’t help as I won’t be in town then :-( There is a very large park across from NMMI as someone said. Even if it belongs to the school, I bet they’d allow it to be held there.

For Alamogordo we've contacted Holloman Air Force Base and asked for their recommendation on the best place to hold a small rally right outside their gates.
If anyone thinks we're going in the wrong direction with these approaches, please let me know! Thanks!
Either Washington or Alameda park in Alamogordo...Alameda would be better, as it is on White Sands Blvd.
There is a monument at the corner of Alameda Park dedicated to the paratroopers of WWII. It has great visibility along White Sands Blvd as well as the main street (7th I think). The reason I know is that my Uncle Raymond Montgomery’s name is on the monument as he and others in the community helped raise funds to build it. He’s since passed but his family still has a parachute panel with all the signatures of the men in his unit that survived D-Day.
If they would let you on the base, there is a great park with a static display of a number of fighters. Wish I could join you as I have a number of past ties to the base and the area, but Virginia is a little far.
We’re going to hold such an event in Norfolk, VA and Richmond, VA on December 13th plus we also have “A Song for Their Service” holiday tribute to our troops concert (open to the public) at 8:00 PM on Friday, December 14th!
Richmond, VA works for me. Let me know the details and I’ll be happy to help, if so desired. I was supposed to be at Fort Riley that weekend but the Program Manager ran out of money and the effort will have to be slipped into the new year.
That would be White Sands and 10th street, which is pretty much downtown. It would be a great place because founder’s park is across the street in downtown. I will have to go look at the monument next time I go home, thanks for telling me.
You may want to check with the Space Hall of Fame in Alamogordo. They have been very receptive to such activity in the past.
