Obama: Don't 'Swift boat' me
By: Mike Allen and Ben Smith Nov 17, 2007 12:54 PM EST Barack Obama In an unusual preemptive statement, the Democratic presidential candidate reacts to a report that a smear is coming.
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) took the rare step of issuing a statement in his own name on Saturday to call attention to a report by columnist Robert D. Novak that New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign is sitting on “scandalous” information about Obama.
The information was not described and there is no proof it exists.
Obama accused Clinton of “Swift boat’ politics” and vowed he will not be intimidated.
“I am prepared to stand up to that kind of politics, whether it's deployed by candidates in our party, in the other party or by any third party,” Obama said. “The cause of change in this country will not be deterred or sidetracked by the old ‘Swift boat’ politics. The cause of moving America forward demands that we defeat it.”
Howard Wolfson, Clinton's campaign communications director, said she has "no idea" what the item is about.
"Once again Sen. Obama is echoing Republican talking points, this time from Bob Novak," he said in an e-mailed statement.
"This is how Republicans work.

If Obama cannot be trusted because of guilt by association to Novak, then none of the CNN screened debaters can be trusted either because they are ALL DNC insiders.
It seems that little miss “pearls or swine” was an aide for Harry Reid.
The current crop of Democrats are all living in the past. Was listening to Nancy Pelosi today and she was raving and ranting about our current WOT and VietNam. She seems to have completely forgotten the day the world changed - 9/11/01 where so many innocent Americans were murdered. And any time I hear Hillary Clinton speak she’s always blaming President Bush for something and everything, like she thinks he’s running against her in 2008. I have a friend who has always voted as a Democrat, but she also has three grandchildren who, as she put it, wants them to grow up in a terror-free America. I told her if she keeps voting for Democrat candidates her grandchildren may not grow old. I’ll give her this - she did say “You are probably right”.
This is ridiculous. Hillary’s polling double what Obama is... Smearing him would only hurt her, and she has no reason to do it. She’s set to win easily just by not doing a thing.
In any event, I guess it’s no surprise that Obama would crybaby about even the POSSIBILITY of someone saying something nasty about him.
Actually he is 50% caucasian. But he is ashamed of it, or at least his wife is. She says it will scare the kids.

One of the smartest things I ever did as an American citizen was to donate money to the Swifties and I did it twice. It wasn’t a great deal of money, but all I could afford. The Swifties sent thank you notes. Great bunch of guys who kept Kerry out of the White House.
Novak isn't even a Republican, not that that matters to the Clinton propoaganda machine.
Obama doesn't have to worry about being Swiftboated, anyway, unless he has some questionable military medals he hasn't talked about yet.
Back in 1968 both Ronald Reagan and Nelson Rockefeller were trying to stop Richard Nixon from becoming the Republican nominee. Reagan and Rockefeller could no more have united to stop Nixon than Obama and Edwards can unite to stop Hillary--who would be the Presidential candidate and who the VP?
Edwards, having run for VP already under Kerry, wouldn't be content to be Obama's VP running-mate, plus Obama is younger and has even fewer years in the Senate than Edwards. Obama, on the other hand, wouldn't be happy playing second fiddle to a Southern white boy, particularly not one whose law degree is from UNC when his is from Harvard.
No kidding...Edwards and Bammie should TAG-TEAMING her!
Wolfson is a MEAN JUNK YARD DOG.....perfect for the Hildebeast. But Novak probably was taken for a ride on this.

The scandal is they just learned that Obama’s mama is WHITE.
If the information was not described and there is no proof it exists, why report it?
