6:30 PM is ridiculous.
While resorting to gunplay seems extreme, a citizen really has no legal recourse to improve USPS service.
In any case, the enraged citizen will now have a very precisely timed mail delivery schedule in his new residence.

6:30 PM is ridiculous. It's all in how you look at things. The mailman is actually delivering the next day's mail -- really, really early!

The day after a holiday the postmaster has a choice ~ since there will be TWO DAY'S WORTH OF MAIL ON HAND ~ he can seek an authorization for overtime from higher management, or he can curtail delivery.
Since NONE of the people getting delivery paid for it, what, then, is the equity principle in this case?
I'd suggest that after a letter carrier gets shot on his route that all the people on that route, and in nearby areas, have delivery service withdrawn until the problem can be sorted out.

6:30 PM is ridiculous.
It mighty not be ridiculous on the Tuesday after Veterans' Day (observed), because the postal carriers have thre days of mail (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) not just one.
It beats the heck out of Canada, where striking workers burn the mail.

Better late than never.
Seems the guy was doing everyone a favor by working late to deliver it all on a heavy mail day.
Instead of a thank-you he gets shot.
