Hating the president is almost as old as the republic itself. The people, or various factions among them, have indulged in Clinton hatred, Reagan hatred, Nixon hatred, LBJ hatred, FDR hatred, Lincoln hatred, and John Adams hatred, to mention only the more extravagant hatreds that we Americans have conceived for our presidents.
But Bush hatred is different. It's not that this time members of the intellectual class have been swept away by passion and become votaries of anger and loathing. Alas, intellectuals have always been prone to employ their learning and fine words to whip up resentment and demonize the competition. Bush hatred, however, is distinguished by the pride intellectuals have taken in their hatred, openly endorsing it as a virtue and enthusiastically proclaiming that their hatred is not only a rational response to the president and his administration but a mark of good moral hygiene. . . .
Bush hatred is not a rational response to actual Bush perfidy. Rather, Bush hatred compels its progressive victims--who pride themselves on their sophistication and sensitivity to nuance--to reduce complicated events and multilayered issues to simple matters of good and evil. Like all hatred in politics, Bush hatred blinds to the other sides of the argument, and constrains the hater to see a monster instead of a political opponent. . . .

It is never excellant to hate, hate the actions if they go against scripture but not the person.
What’s particularly inexplicable is that they hate him for doing pretty much what their favored leaders past have advocated. Iraq? practically all top-profile Dems have advocated toppling Saddam, so Bush did it and is simply cleaning up the resultant mess.
Because the GOP leadership has the same view that he does.
Never forget the Florida state assemblyman found with a Votamatic in his trunk in the 2000 mess.
Those bastards tried to steal the election. They would’ve succeeded too if Americans, sick of Clinton/Gore, didn’t stand up and demand honest vote counting.
See Bill Sammon’s book on this. I think it was called At Any Cost.
What planet do you live on? Abu Nidal and Zarqawi were both in Baghdad on/about 9/11. There was yellocake found in Iraq (this was even a NYT story)! Saddam may have made the decision not to continue to pursue WMD but he had had them in the past.
Just ask the village of Halabja.
If I was giving out "Post of the Day" prize, you'd already be a winner.
They hate us. And they hate everyone of you that:
-Thinks abortion is or just might be murdering a baby.
-Believes in God and has a personal relationship with Him.
-Thinks our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines are the finest, most dedicated bunch of heroes ever to have fought.
-Thinks homosexual acts are deviant.
-Loves America and what She stands for.
-Loves the Founding Fathers and the US Constitution.
-Believes in hard work, honesty, and knowing that some things are just plain wrong, despite the circumstances.
-Believes the American culture is best.
-Doesn't think every bloodthirsty savage or Third World thug is noble.
-Finds constant cussing and public sexual behavior crude and offensive.
-Believes the best environment for a child is with her Mommy, Daddy, and any brothers and sisters. Certainly not the whole village.
-Sees nothing wrong with people trying to earn a buck and then being allowed to keep it or spend it any way they see fit.
I could go on, but you get the drift.
You’re ridiculous.
If President Bush is “so stupid, “ what does that make Bush-haters? (Hint: really, REALLY, REALLY stupid....)
He beat them in two presidential elections, and has run circles around the Dimwit-led congress. And now we’re winning in Iraq.
Now the Bush-haters are REALLY mad. LOL
It’s a projection of their hatred for US, and the frustration they feel that they aren’t getting their way so much any more. Also that they’re getting old.
Despite all the rhetoric to the contrary, he has done that despite withering attacks from both sides and the middle.
While I wish he would not have done MANY THINGS during his tenure, his defense policies have prevented another attack on this nation and for that I am grateful.
The only criticisms I have against him are his border stance, which is just one factor in his timidity [IMHO] in fighting the WOT.
That being said the FACT still remains we have not suffered another terrorist attack on our soil and that trumps just about everything negative in my opinion.
Now the anti-Bushbots on this forum can make the argument that Bush is not as conservative as Reagan was. That's beside the point. In lib minds Bush is a reactionary arch-conservative. Not because he's that conservative, but simply because he's not a progressive. They despise the idea of conservatism. If Duncan Hunter, who some consider the most conservative candidate in 2008, were elected president, I guarantee you that Hunter hatred would be in vogue for libs.
Yeah, I guess that's why France, Canada, Germany, Austrlia, and a few others have elected conservative leaders like Howard, Sarkozy and Harper who have gone out of their way to praise Bush and America. You're echoing lib talking points.
Tell me something. Who really ended and did the most damage to Saddams nuclear program? What POTUS was wise enough to sit back and let that nation do it in matter of minutes? What is current POTUS policy toward the nation who ended Saddams nuclear program? Why can't he keep his nose out of Israels affairs and try to forvce feed his insane Road Map to Peace?
Bush foreign policy is at best two faced. I never was against the removal of Saddam but I don't think we OWE the people of Iraq even a nail or a 2X4. If Bush wants Iraq rebuilt them I'm all for him and Jimmy Carter taking their private money and doing it on their own time but not my tax dollar.
I also think better planning {on a limited scale} could have produced better and quicker results in both Iraq and Afghanistan. What did Bush think? Announcing for nearly a year I'm coming to get you Bin Ladden and Saddam would say oh please we give up? Sheesh.
Praise is cheap. What nation did the majority of the work? If Bush wanted a war in Iraq then a war he should have asked for and a war he should have made it just that. Withing 12 months Iraq would have been in ruins and our troops home. What Bush has done there is anything but that as in war LBJ style. Smarter money would have went to smaller operations aimed soley at key figures or targets without strutting around like a stupid rooster in a hen house announcing it's going to happen. Worked for Reagan.
...and that's why Republicans control the Senate and House today. Oh, wait...
They lost it because they were spending like democRats.
So for them hatred of Bush is really a hatred of anything Christian. Once they say even just one thing good about Bush, in their minds that is the same as saying something good about Christians, then their house of cards collapses.
schu
I remember that!
The MSM didn’t find it very newsworthy.
