I think we need to stop convincing ourselves Hillary can't win. Unfortunately she can. I'm not quite so pessmistic as Armey, but she has a real shot in a political environment that is awful for the GOP right now. Polls that show 50% won't vote for her don't hold up when she's matched against the GOP candidates, against whom she either beats or in one case only basically ties or slightly loses. We need to stop the squabbling amongst ourselves, the tired "RINO" labelling, and threats of third party candidates or not voting and unite, or we're going to be looking down the barrel of far left wing extremism having total hold on the government. Sometimes it's better to take a plate of 75% of what you want, than a buffet of bulls--t like we'll get from the Clintons.

I know, some of you will call Armey a RINO, he's not, but he is the last fiscal conservative we've had in a position of governing power in the GOP. He is worth listening to and not easily dismissed.

She has to win to usher in the Apocalyse where all liberals will be cleansed from the Earth once and for all...

I’ve never said Hillary can’t win. It doesn’t take any inside intelligence to know she’s favored and she’s one tough candidate.

I’m not going to live in fear of terrorists so living in fear of Hillary would be foolish.

Our country survived 12 years of the likes of Clinton and Carter and it makes me sick to my stomach to think of 4-8 years of another Clinton. The country would survive it but I don’t know if I would.

That being said, I have serious doubts that I could ever vote for Rudy, Mitt or Paul, Paul doesn’t have a chance but the two top guys Rudy and Mitt are unacceptable for me.

All my voting life I have been voting for the “lesser of two evils” with the exception of Reagan, whom I genuinely liked. Sadly there’s no Regan on the scene now.

Dick Armey is understandably miffed at the lack of support from the GOP during his financial fiasco. I’m sure part of the problem was that people don’t like him very much ...

Welcome to FR. You spelled “penitentiary” wrong.

Hillary is easier to beat than Obama or Edwards despite Dick Armey’s problems beating her, an unelected nobody with average intelligence, in policy debates during the Clinton years. JMHO of course.

Hitlery can beat any of our candidates right now. But we’re not united yet. Once we unite under one candidate we can face Hitlery.

I'm getting old so I have to confess that I got Armey confused with Trent Lott. I am interested in what Dick Armey says. Sorry, just ignore me.

The only way the Republican party will beat Hillary Clinton is to return to its limited-government roots. That’s the only way to rebuild a majority coalition.

Dick Armey nails it. If the GOP doesn't reach out to fiscal conservatives and libertarians, they're buttered French toast.

“...need to present an alternative vision for America—a positive vision that limits government and trusts individuals and leaves families, churches, and businesses free to make their own decisions, and not have bureaucrats and politicians calling the shots.”

Fred could have written this.

I think one reason why it seems like Hillary will win is because she was chosen by the Democratic Party Leadership to run for President even before she won the Senate. No other candidate on either side has that advantage. She has been annointed by those who do not have the best interests of the United States in mind. That’s just so sad. So many Democratic voters will be tricked into voting for her, believing the propoganda that she is a harmless girl scout. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The woman's name is Mrs. Bill Clinton.

A vote for her is a vote to return Bill Clinton to Power. This woman, crafty politician though she may be, is nothing but an appendage of Mr. Bill Clinton, who runs her show even as we speak.

The Republicans battling each other for the honor and privilege of battling her haven't a clue and if they don't "man up" and get tough, we haven't a chance.

She’s one of the most able politicians in America

An almost entirely media-created perception. As is becoming apparent to more and more voters.

Friendly Fire recently sat down with Ron Paul to discuss the 2008 election:

Part I interview with Ron Paul: The Bulletin

FF: Since the debates don't allow for direct exchanges, if you could ask your opponents a direct question, what would it be?

RP: Why do you act like Democrats? You do everything the Democrats did. You're doing all the things we accuse the Democrats of doing. You're big spenders and champions of welfare programs, even though you condemned President Clinton for nation-building. And now you're losing your shirt, you lost last year, you're running up the deficit, you're in the entitlement business, you don't care about personal liberties, and you've taken up Bill Clinton's foreign policy [of nation-building]. It doesn't make any sense. Why would you do it if you know it's hurting the party?

What will put Hillary in the Presidency is Republicans who do not find their perfect candidate in the nominee and either stay home from the polls or worse yet vote for Hillary to send a "message". No Republican candidate regardless of how liberal, pro choice, conservative, anti-gun etc. would be worse than Hillary as President no matter what.

While four years of Hillary or God forbid eight, will probably turn the country against liberalism, the damage to the US will be horrendous. With the Dems in Congress and Hillary in the White House the economy will take the biggest dive since the Great Depression. Taxes ranging from income tax, gasoline tax, carbon tax, cigarette taxes etc. will bleed the country while the Dems go on an orgy of domestic spending.

Worse yet will be our safety. A hasty retreat in Iraq, Iran getting nuclear weapons, the fall of Pakistan to radical Muslims and Hillary's willingness to appease any dictator or terrorist will mean great danger in the US. The IEDs will be exploding in US streets, not in Baghdad and I would expect at least one 9-11 sized attack witha a "dirty " Bomb.
