The first month of fiscal 2008 was a success for all active and reserve military components. In a meeting with Pentagon reporters today, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said all components met or exceeded their recruiting and accession goals for October.
On the active-duty side, the Army made 101 percent of its goal of 4,500, with 4,564 recruits. The Navy made 100 percent of its goal of 2,788 recruits. The Marine Corps made 102 percent of its goal of 2,720, with 2,788 enlisting. The Air Force made 100 percent of its goal of 2,656.
God bless all the men and women who enlist to serve and defend our Country!
How did you arrive at that "take"?
Our shippy is doing us proud!
Go Navy
Beat Army
Lord Haw-Haw Reid....exactly!
Bump for our fine military!
Yeah, Benedict Murtha did say that and so did Kookcinich. What a stuning development.
I second that “emotion” - GO NAVY - beat AMRY! Ha ha - I wanted to go into the Army, but the hub is Navy. 8)
Our shippy’s men and women get all the credit. They really work 24 hrs a day and don’t go near any of them on mission day unless you are ready to sign on the dotted line.
Time for a draft..... /s
Works for me.
We have two stock boys (still in High School for now) that work for us; one is ARNG and the other is going to be a Marine. We’re most likely hiring a friend of theirs that is also going into the military, but I don’t know which branch, yet.
They get no end of amusement out of the fact that someone as “old” as their Mother is a retired Army Vet. They love it when I call them “Maggot,” LOL!
These kids are AWESOME and have a whole host of opportunities open to them. They’re all three white, upper-middle class kids that could easily say “Screw it” and live off of Mom and Dad through their college years if they chose to.
Instead, they’ve elected to serve and defend the rest of us.
Go figure! :)
You’re too modest. I know it’s having a wholesome home life that makes shippy a recruiting machine.
It’s just too bad it’s not several hundred thousand troops bigger...
Try to get the command to admit that...hee hee!
God Bless them!
St. Michael the Archangel, protect them in battle!
Patriots!
But when, oh, when, does the Draft start?!
/sarc
Isn't there an argument for the draft in that we need to spread the burdens of national security on all young people?

yes and there is an argument that we should hold Turkey accountable for the Armenian genocide...but we all know what both of these ideas will just mess up things
Very very true. The liberals are deeply saddened by this reality.
