Well, that may be a bit of a fib...
BAGHDAD: Former Sunni insurgents asked the U.S. to stay away, then ambushed members of al-Qaida in Iraq, killing 18 in a battle that raged for hours north of Baghdad, an ex-insurgent leader and Iraqi police said Saturday.
Fighters of the Islamic Army in Iraq staged the surprise attack Friday afternoon near Samarra sending advance word to Iraqi police and requesting that U.S. helicopters stay away, since the fighters had no uniforms and were indistinguishable from al-Qaida.
A top Islamic Army leader known as Abu Ibrahim told The Associated Press that his fighters attacked al-Qaida southeast of Samarra, a mostly Sunni city about 90 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad.
"We found out that al-Qaida intended to attack us, so we ambushed them at 3 p.m. on Friday," Abu Ibrahim said.
Wooohooooo!!!! I would have popped some f'ing popcorn and took a seat on the nearest high ground to see that show. Hell, I would have got them some fire support or an air-strike or two if they wanted it.
My guess is this is what happens when the neighborhood association decides that you got to go.
The libtards will claim that this is only an isolated incident and that the people are out to settle the score in a civil war that we are in the middle of and we are only dying for the Halliburton, Big Oil, Bush Cabal that is just like the Nazi Regime blah blah blah.....
Meanwhile, farther east in Diyala province, members of another former insurgent group, the 1920s Revolution Brigades, launched a military-style operation Saturday against al-Qaida in Iraq there, the Iraqi Army said.
Afterward, hundreds of people paraded through the streets of Buhriz, about 60 kilometers (35 miles) north of Baghdad, witnesses said. Many danced and fired their guns into the air, shouting "Down with al-Qaida!" and "Diyala is for all Iraqis!"
Oh, and this one;
And at Baghdad's most revered Sunni shrine, the Abu Hanifa mosque, voices blasted from loudspeakers Saturday urging residents to turn against al-Qaida as well: "We are your sons, the sons of the awakening, and we want to end the operations of al-Qaida...We call upon you not to be frightened, and to cooperate with us."
It was not inevitable that this would happen. It was not a forgone conclusion that the population would rise up against these foreign ass-hats that want to not only kill us, but to enslave and kill them too. It could however be discerned that with a renewed effort and a change of strategy on our part, and walking the streets and living among the the people.
Like this:
The throat cutters from Asscrackistan, or where ever they came from are in trouble, big trouble.
And so are the distinguished members of the Surrender Lobby....

Democrats Becoming Desperate in Efforts to End Iraq War [semi-satire]
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announce that she is giving the president one last chance to agree to a plan to withdraw US troops from Iraq. Her Iraq War funding bill would appropriate $50 billion for the troops, but only on condition that the President accede to Democrats
demands that he start pulling them out immediately and complete the withdrawal by the end of 2008.
This may be our last chance to decide the outcome of this war, Pelosi said. The situation in Iraq is very unstable and there are signs that the tide may have turned permanently against us. If we dont get the troops out
soon theres no telling what might happen.
Pelosi said her Partys push to end the war is aimed at keeping our commitment to the American people. We promised voters that a Democratic Congress would end this war. Bushs claim that wethe United States, I
suppose he meanscould still win this war is pure speculation. It isnt part of our agenda. Winning cannot be guaranteed. Getting out can be guaranteed. Why take a chance when we can bet on a sure thing?
Pelosis remarks were echoed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). As Ive said before, the war is lost, Reid said. Lets acknowledge this fact and get our troops out before we do too much damage.
Both Pelosi and Reid rejected the option of simply de-funding the war. Were not going solo on this, Reid said. It would be too risky. If things got worse, the right wing media would try to blame us. No, this war is President Bushs fault. His blame for that must not be obscured by partisan politics. He must join with the Democratic Party in a bi-partisan plan to end this
conflict. Thats the only acceptable way out of this mess.
In related news, Representative David Obey (D-Wis.) gave his own unique take on the war, saying that reports alleging a favorable trend in Iraq are misleading. The only reason why the violence in Iraq may have been
declining over the course of the year is because practically everyone in the country has already been killed, Obey declared. Between al-Qaeda, the
militias, the Iranians and our own troops, I dont see how anyone could survive in that kind of crossfire.
