What’s a good 6-figure job for a man of about 50 who wants to leave his desk job in logistics behind? He knows his own industry and indeed the geography of the United States very, very well. What he wants is to break over the 6-figure mark which seems to be impossible where he is. He has a bachelor’s and is not opposed to some time off for training or education. He’s a hard worker, long hours, and personable. He can talk sports with the best of them and can be a team player or leader.
He despises sales. He’s stuck in L.A. for family reasons.
Any serious suggestions?
Bartender.
Recruiting in his own field:

Fisherman, farmer, rancher, stripper, porn star, car wash owner, U-haul-type franchise, Self-storage franchise, UPS franchise, guide, tow truck owner, caterer, business liasson contractor to government agencies or politicians, lobbyest, parking lot owner, drag strip owner, show biker, show dragster, show drifter, car show promoter, oil lease agent (you go talk to land owners to get them to lease you their land for drilling)...
You have to *try* to earn less than $100k in the U.S.
Making money here is pathetically easy.
I don't know squat about that field but is it something that could be done while self employed? Consulting or contract work?
I made pretty good money as an employee and while it was scary as all get out to get started I ended up doing much better being self employed. If someone is in an area that lends itself to being independent and has a good work ethic I highly recommend self employment as something to consider.
Just think; if you work hard all the benefits come to you, not your employer.
Consult back into the same industry. Use the knowledge and experience that you’ve gained. I contract now, doing the same job I did before. Took a while to get going, accumulating contacts, but I doubled my income.

Tell him to change his attitude about sales.
