I don't know squat about that field but is it something that could be done while self employed? Consulting or contract work?
I made pretty good money as an employee and while it was scary as all get out to get started I ended up doing much better being self employed. If someone is in an area that lends itself to being independent and has a good work ethic I highly recommend self employment as something to consider.
Just think; if you work hard all the benefits come to you, not your employer.
You guys had basically the same idea. I am going to pass it on to him. I like your way of thinking — entrepreneurial.
