Rudy Giuliani's Al Qaeda Connection?
Radar Online ^ | 08 Nov 2007 | Nick Curran

Posted on 11/09/2007 11:53:53 AM PST by BGHater

How much exactly would it cost to get Rudy Giuliani to holster his overdone 9/11 sanctimony? The government for the tiny Persian Gulf nation of Qatar might have a good idea.

Following earlier reports that Giuliani was still getting paid by the consulting firm he created, Mary Jacoby of the Wall Street Journal sheds light on some potentially problematic sources of Giuliani's private income. Chief among them is Qatar, the U.S. ally that paid Giuliani Partners for "security advice" regarding their petroleum facilities. The article uncovers a "potential political pitfall" for Giuliani's candidacy and image given Qatar's spotty record in fighting Al Qaeda, but it stops short of explicitly addressing an aspect of the business arrangement that could dog Giuliani during his quest for the presidency.

Specifically, the ostensible chief consumer of Giuliani's security advice in this case would be Qatar's internal security ministry—currently headed by a known Al Qaeda associate.

As Radar reported earlier this year, Qatar Interior Minister Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Thani has long had ties to top Al Qaeda operatives including Osama Bin Laden, and is believed by many U.S. officials to have personally arranged the narrow escape of Al Qaeda big-wig Khalid Sheikh Mohammed from U.S. agents in 1996, thereby ensuring his freedom to mastermind the 9/11 attacks.

Qatar's stability and the petroleum facilities Giuliani's firm helped protect are vital to American interests. But Giuliani's incessant 9/11 know-it-all-ism, his refusal to release specifics of the case, and his decision to remain on the firm's payroll while running for president make the whole deal fair game for speculation. -Snip-

WOW. I knew Giuliani Parters had been on the Saudi payroll, but I didn’t realize Giuliani was still getting checks from them. That’s an insane conflict of interest.

By “them,” I mean Giuliani Partners. I realize this article focuses on the company’s relationship with Qatar.

Knowing that Lady who kissed the wife of a known Terrorist and her Love for women rather than men, no wonder the olde horndog chased anyone in a skirt. He probably had been “cut off” so to speak for a long time. At least there are no rumors of him being AC/DC as well.

If it’s true, better to hear it now than after he’s the nominee.

If it ISN’T true, why don’t you go ahead and explain how it’s false?

I guaran-dang-tee you the source of this story isn’t Clintoon or her thugs. They want to air this stuff a lot closer to showtime.

So much about Rooty just smells. I give him credit for his ACTING ability. It is just hard to believe the GOP would push this questionable person as our candidate.

Rooty playing like he didn’t know about Bernie makes me want to puke.

An authoritarian like Rooty always knows what is going on. He needs to get out of this race.

"The clinton’s at work again."

So anything negative about Rudy is the Clinton's doing?

It has nothing to do with his own actions and choices?

Give me a break!

MORE MITTBOT BOOB BAIT. JUNGLE FIGHTER MITTY, NEVER EVEN SO MUCH AS FOUGHT A PARKING TICKET, NEEDS TO PULL DOWN RUDY'S ANTI TERROR CREDS.

WSJ Article.

Qatari officials have denied they tipped off Mr. Mohammad, and a State Department report says the country has offered "significant" counterterrorism support to the U.S. since the 2001 attacks."

U.S.-QATARI RELATIONS Bilateral relations are strong and expanding. The U.S. embassy was opened in March 1973. The first resident U.S. ambassador arrived in July 1974. Ties between the U.S. and Qatar are excellent. Amir Hamad last visited Washington in 2004, and President Bush visited Qatar in 2003. Qatar and the United States coordinate closely on regional diplomatic initiatives, cooperate to increase security in the Gulf, and enjoy extensive economic links, especially in the hydrocarbons sector

Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar

As of September 2002 about 2,000 American soldiers were stationed at Al Udeid, down from a peak of 4,000 during the war in Afghanistan. The United States kept two dozen KC-135 Stratotankers and KC-10A Extenders at the base for in-flight refueling of fighter jets and bombers over Afghanistan. And though the number of American soldiers on the base had fallen by half since the peak of the Afghan campaign, to about 2,200, the base had been expanded over the previous six months to accommodate up to 10,000 troops and 120 aircraft.

Qatar agreed to host pre-positioned equipment for an Army brigade, and in 1996 it hosted an air expeditionary force consisting of 30 fighters and four tankers. Air Force pre-positioning was facilitated by the construction of what may be the premier air base in the Gulf at Al-Udeid. The Qatari philosophy behind construction was likened to "build it and they will come" -- obtain the best defense by providing the best facilities for US and coalition forces. The Al-Udeid Air Base was built at a cost of more than a billion dollars. Its runway measures 15,000 long -- the longest in the Gulf. The facility's shelters can accommodate nearly a hundred aircraft, rather more than needed by the Qatari Air Force, which has only a dozen fighters. The facility is owned and operated by the Qatari armed forces.

In 1999, Qatar's emir, Sheikh Hamad, reportedly told US officials that he would like to see as many as 10,000 US servicemen permanently stationed at Al Udeid......

Ummmm....

What anti-terror creds?

The Giuliani I know dodged the draft, did everything he could to avoid serving the country, and spent most of his time protesting U.S. wars until 9/11.

What, exactly are those anti-terror creds?
