Jihadist's Letter to Zawahiri Reveals Anthrax Motive,"

A former leader of an armed Islamic group in Libya, Numan Bin Uthman, has written a letter to al-Qaeda second in command Ayman al-Zawahiri telling him that Jihadi groups in Arab countries have failed and that the strategy of using nonconventional WMD to deter an invasion of Afghanistan was a misguided and failed strategy.

The letter needs to be understood in the context of the fact that the microbiologist that Ayman Zawahiri and Mohammed Atef used to infiltrate US biodefense, Ali Al-Timimi, had a stern warning not to invade Iraq hand-delivered to every member of Congress on October 6, 2002 -- the first anniversary of the mailing to Senator Leahy and Senator Daschle. It was in the name of Bin Laden's sheik.

The Libyan jihadist Numan Bin Uthman wrote:

"Dear Doctor Ayman, as I told you during a meeting in Kandahar [in Afghanistan] in 2000,

*** Uthman also said that he had taken part in an important al-Qaeda summit in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2000, in which al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden had defined search for and use of weapons of mass destruction as a "Sharia obligation".

"During this occasion, I had a strong dispute with the martyr Abu Hafs al-Kumandan [Commander Abu Hafs aka Mohammed Atef, Al Qaeda's military commander to whom Ayman Zawahiri was reporting about anthrax weaponization program codenamed Zabadi], because he was heavily involved in acquiring weapons of mass destruction," he said in the letter.

"He wanted to use these weapons to dissuade the United State from attacking Afghanistan."

I read a book that Al Qaeda was trying to do experiments with biochemical weapons in Afghanistan or Pakistan. They wanted to experiment them on human subjects they captured. But they had to ask some Taliban or mullah if it was alright in the Koran or whatever. And the mullah dude said no, you can’t use humans as experiments, and Al Qaeda couldn’t do anything about it.

That’s what they get for hanging around some stoneage freaks. LOL

In Afghanistan, Zawahiri was assisted by Midhat Mursi (alias Abu Khabab). In his late 1940s, Mursi had graduated from the University of Alexandria in 1975.

Wow, he's really old. :)

Sorry to be flip, and I really would like all of this to be true, but I find it hard to believe that some anonymous blogger suddenly has access to all this classified material.

The argument is set forth in much greater detail at the website

http://www.anthraxandalqaeda.com

at which I upload the documents produced under FOIA by the DIA.

It was declassified prior to being released with the most important stuff redacted — such as the identity of the second lab Rauf Ahmad visited and the identity of the scientist he consulted with.

I could email you the resume of the Pakistani scientist Rauf Ahmad’s and you can call him. He’s a very nice chap and his English is perfectly passable. The approach is best made by someone willing to listen to and report his side of the story. He lost touch with me when he realized I had his correspondence with Ayman. But he likely would welcome a call by any journalist who is going to give him a chance to explain side of things. For example, I believe inquiry would establish he’s an ecotoxicologist and not a microbiologist.

It was Dr. Ken Alibek who told me what the FBI suspected about Ali when I asked him if he knew Ali (having noticed that both Ken and Ali were at GMU and in microbiology). If you ask nice and respectfully, people more often than you might expect will tell you what you want to know.

Here is background from an A1 story in the Washington Post that explains the DIA’s production and declassification of the documents.

Suspect and A Setback In Al-Qaeda Anthrax Case

The scientist, identified by U.S. and Pakistani officials as Abdur Rauf, traveled

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/ content/article/2006/10/30/AR2006103001250.html

The April 1999 email from Ayman to Atef was from his computer which WSJ journalist Alan Cullison bought from a looter in late 2001 after his own computer got damaged and he went to a local computer dealer looking for a replacement. Atef’s laptop likely would have been even more interesting but it had been wiped clean by the time a guy named “Bob” handed it back to the WSJ journalist on a street corner. (He didn’t have time to copy it then and thought he was doing the patriotic thing by getting it to the CIA pronto.

MAY 26, 2004 : (DEBKA "FWIW"* REPORT : US LOOKING FOR SIDDIQUI, SHUKRIJUMAH, ...AND MIDAAT MURSI aka ABU KHABAB) DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources reveal that US counter-terrorist authorities are focusing on tracking down two key suspects: a 32-year old Pakistani woman called Aafaya Siddiqui, doctor of neurology who attended a university in the Boston area, and Adnan G. Al Shukrijmah, an al Qaeda activist known to have spent time in Florida. Our sources add that American and foreign counter-terror and intelligence agencies are also hunting for Midaat Mursi, known as Abu Khabab, prominent member of al Qaeda’s operational partner, the Egyptian Jihad Islami, who is considered the organization’s top expert on radiological bombs. Mursi heads a number of terrorist rings who have been instructed to infiltrate the United States through Canada for a dirty bomb attack. They may have made the crossing already. ------- "Some Names of Al Qaeda Terrorists Plotting Hot Summer for America ," May 26, 2004 (Debka) http://www.ianlivingston.com/archived/2004/mursi_alsayid.htm

FBI most wanted

Raitt-Glover-SF-03-16-03

This guy has had a few FR threads in the past. I even sent both of these picks to the FBI, just in case the guy on the right side of the photo, to the left of Bonnie & Danny, was the same guy, being that the first photo was an early DL picture.

I never did hear back from them, although I received a coupon in the mail afterwards, with a Washington DC cancelation stamp on it, for a free 200 ft roll of Reynolds Aluminum foil.
