From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. "Wear Red" Friday

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Good morning Finest FRiends.

I am leaving for day VERY early today(wearing red of course! ) so posting the thread early . It is dreary & cold here in NE Ohio. We had snow a few days ago.. just snow showers but Yuk-city just the same.

. I really enjoyed Kentucky this week presented by Mama_bear & JustAmy. What a fun state that is... thank you again Ladies. Didn't get to JH2 until this morning.. as usual a great essay & so well presented by dutchess... thank you all for keeping the Finest door open.

We did NOT have a troll in 2nd post. It was me being blond & pinging the Finest list & forgetting to add the list.. groan. Time for coffee me thinks.

I am off for day on various errands, hospital visits, family visits etc.. Tonight playoff football (HS) game.

tomorrow a funeral out of town.. good gal pals mom . in evening movie/dinner date

. Sunday, - church , movie Bella afterward with friends, Browns & then SLEEP!

All three days a dogie walk of at least an hour. I am doing well on my sprained foot. What a difference it has been to have my chiropractor treat it rather than the traditional RICE. I crawled into the office last saturday (12 hours after spraining it) and walked out.

I did a couple mile excursion the past two days with dogs. I love my chiorpractor.. I say it over & over but it is true. He keeps my old bones/body in as good as shape as possible.

Well, need to get ready to leave in half an hour...

Good Morning FRiends, Beautiful red roses, Meg!

Had a hard week...son’s cat has been with me as he was out of town again and I could see everyday that her time was near. I prayed she would make it until he got back and she did. We both had our little tears last night and I have this morning. Haven’t heard this am. if he has taken her to be put down yet. She has been a precious cat for 17 years.

Red Hats today....will wear ‘red and purple’. Would like to back out but will try to go on.

Memorial service for my friend’s daughter in the morning and visitation tonight. My friend had to pay $7500.00 to get her daughter back from Amsterdam. Everything is so complicated, isn’t it!

The Great Pandemic

In March 1918, Albert Gitchell, an Army cook at Fort Riley, Kansas, was diagnosed with the flu. Before the year was out, it had spread around the world, killing perhaps as many as 40 million people. This highly contagious virus became a pandemic—a global epidemic.

One physician reported that patients would rapidly show flu-like symptoms, develop the worst type of pneumonia he had ever seen, and then suffocate within hours. Fortunately, the influenza disappeared as mysteriously as it had begun. But doctors remained baffled by its cause and were helpless to find a cure.

Ancient Israel also suffered a devastating plague, but they knew its cause and asked Moses for a cure. They were ungrateful and complained about God’s provision of manna. In righteous anger, God sent serpents whose poisonous bite left a lethal wound. He then told Moses to make a bronze serpent and put it on a pole. All who looked at it were healed (Num. 21:1-9).

Centuries later, Jesus spoke of this as a symbol of His death on the cross: “Even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:14-15).
