Ummm, why then don’t you tip the cashier at the local AM-PM ... they provided you a service right - why don’t you tip anyone and everyone who provides you a service regardless .... why only wait-staff or your hairdresser or your pet groomer???? Tip the flight crew who brought you safely to the airport .... So again it appears that if you don’t want your $10 beer other people have to pay for it, is that it??? So what you’re saying is that we have no more choice in America??? Hmmmm ...
BTW - I am an American ... war veteran’s in my family going back to the Revolutionary War - last one is my brother who is now in Iraq .... I worked and paid for my education myself .....

Sounds like you know the rules, so you know the answer to your question. You just don't care for the rules, do you?
BTW, I don't have a pet groomer, and the guy who cuts my hair is a barber. Next month he'll get a "Christmas bonus," as will a couple of the girls who bring me my Murphy's Amber when I'm thirsty, and I'm not even a Christian.

This is one of my favourite sites. This is a link to the HClinton thing, but you might like to know what waitpeople think of getting stiffed. I lived on my tips for two years and I still remember how hard I worked for each and every dollar. I haven’t waitressed for over thirty yrs now, but I still remember.
You think you meet some jerks in an airport? Hoo-boy! You just haven’t lived until you’ve served a drunken family of nine who decide to settle family business while you are trying to serve the salads. That is one story. Over thirty years ago. This websites got millions of those stories. Enjoy!

I worked and paid for my education myself .....
And so did most of us...by waiting on tables for tips.

no one cares how you paid for what. stop giving us your resume.
you and your silly parents want to be cheap? fine. this is america. HOWEVER, as you have said, tipping is customary.
so, the next time you go into a restaurant tell the waiter/waitress that you do not believe in tipping. tell them as soon as they come to your table. if you are going to go against such an ingrained custom, then you should be human enough to let them know at the outset.
tipping, silly girl, is so deep in american culture that it is permissible to pay servers WELL BELOW minimum wage because it is understood that people tip for services rendered.
upon hearing that you will not tip, any manager worth a damn will refuse you service. go microwave a burrito. weirdo.
