At first, the story line went like this: Sen. Hillary Clinton may have committed the ultimate political culinary sin -- not tipping the waitress.
But the story was wrong: NPR has retracted its initial report, a nasty little anecdote about iClnton meeting a working-mom waitress at the Maid-Rite eatery in Iowa over the summer, using her story in a speech -- and then stiffing her on the tip.
Now NPR has confirmed the tip with an editor's note: "Since this story aired, Hillary Clinton's campaign contacted NPR to say that the campaign paid Maid-Rite a bill for $100 for food for the day of Clinton's visit and left $57 in tip money. NPR contacted Maid-Rite manager Brad Crawford, who confirmed that a bill was paid and tip money was left.
"Crawford, who was not in the restaurant at the time, said that he believes a campaign staffer left the money with one of his employees, but "where Hillary was sitting, there was no tip left." Neither Anita Esterday nor the manager on duty that day were available for comment as of noon Thursday.''

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I always leave the tip with the manager--I never leave it for the waitress. Especially if I'm leaving a BIG tip, like $57.
UPDATE: The Clinton campaign contacted ABC News to assert that they did, contrary to Esterday’s claim to NPR, pay $157 for food at Maid-Rite and left a $100 tip to be split among the staff.
Sensing the story was reaching the tipping point, ABC News’ Eloise Harper contacted Brad Crawford, manager of Maid-Rite caught in the political mixer, who said the senator’s staff did pay a tip but “it might have not been disbursed properly.”

But it sounds like the waitress still didn’t get anything. Or the Clinton camp is lying, who would think!!

I go out to eat almost daily. I patronize restaurants all over town. The servers compete for who gets my table because I'm give consistently good tips for consistently good performance. You get what you give.
You can’t bet the tip never came out of the Hildebeast’s own pocket!
If the owner Mr. Crawford was not there that day, how would he have known that Ms. Clinton left a tip? And if he found out from an employee, how come the employee called to tell him (the owner) but not the manager and the waitress? It simply would not make sense that the absent owner would know, but that the manager and the waitresses ON DUTY would not know.
If this is found to be true, one could only assume that the anonymous employee who called the tip and payment into the owner, post facto, should be charged with stealing the tip and the payment since it was not turned over to the manager or employees...
That should be “You can bet”..

I bet some post report repairs were done and the waitress came off then with a good tip. Better late than never. Hillary has a reputation for being a no-tipper. After all, what more could a lowly waitress ask for in this life than to be in the august presence of Herself for a few moments, and to hear that Olympian voice utter wisdom for the ages-”... and make it quick! I haven’t got all ((bleep)) day!”

Royals do not carry money. For the wannabes that is a mark of royalty- others handle the money. The august personage just floats through and the mere mortals rush about to see that nothing impedes her or requires her own attention.
Who is going to pay the TAX on the $57, 100 or 157 “tip”? The waitress, the manager or the owner? If the employees split up the tip who has to report it? Will the $57, 100 or 157 tip be reported on campaign financials? Stay tuned...

This may be poor reporting, but it sounds as he wasn’t even in the restaurant that day. It may be they are saying he wasn’t in the restaurant when being interviewed, but it sure sounds like he wasn’t there during the incident when Clinton’s crew came through. If he wasn’t there, how would he know?
Sorry, but you’ve obviously never been a waitress, nor travelled in countries which traditionally didn’t tip (e.g., UK). Waiters are paid very low hourly salaries, and they must consequently perform well to earn decent hourly pay—think of them as being on commission. Conversely, in places where tipping has been replaced with a mandatory service tax, the service uniformly sucks.
Now wouldn't that be a novel way to pay government workers and teachers...Below minimum wage and the rest in tips.

The drive-by media return to the scene with a mop and bucket (and knee pads) to clean up for the Clintons.
I really do not know what to believe, I hope associates of this restaurant do meet an unexpected death or be involved in an accident resulting in death.
I think Clinton likely stiffed every waitress between Arkansas and D.C.......OH! You mean Hillary........
