So there I am driving to the Northwestern/Iowa football game last Saturday when my friend Bruce says, "Hey, what do you think of the Buick Enclave? I think it's pretty sharp." Well Bruce, you are not alone.
The latest stats from J.D. Power's Power Information Network shows the Buick Enclave was the fastest selling vehicle in the U.S. last month. Yes, #1. The Enclave sold so fast, it was in showrooms fewer days than the Toyota Fit which rounded out the top "hot selling cars" in October.
Why is this a big deal? Buick is hurting, and if the Enclave is generating buzz with little marketing it is significant. It shows a good looking model can be sell even if the badge on the front is gasping for air. It also shows GM's designers have hit the right chord with it's latest crossovers (the GMC Acadia was the only other American model in the top ten of fast selling models).
If you've read this blog for any amouint of time you know my thoughts on Buick. It's the forgotten brand at GM with an undefined niche, little marketing support, and until now, few models I found attractive. Heck sales are down 23% this year and it represents less than 5% of GM's total sales. All reasons why I've wondered why GM doesn't go ahead and give Buick the Oldsmobile treatment and kill it.
That may still happen. But for now, the Enclave is giving Buick executives and fans a reason to smile. As I told my friend Bruce, "The Enclave is very nice, give it a look"
I don’t like that either. However, we have 2 pretty heavy trailers we haul around and Ford hauls them better than any other. Also, I have a Mustang because it’s fun.
I had one following me a little while ago. The driver needed to get her cell phone out of her ear or she was going to end up eating my back bumper.
What the heck do you need that much hauling ability for?
When I was a kid, my Dad would always buy last years model with no options.
It was, invariably, a horrid green.
No radio!
Would that formula still work on a hyundai with a sticker price of $10,000? And what about cars that have been on the lot for a year or nearly a year? Are they going to let those go for even less than what your formula indicates?
My dad and his dad always did the same thing too. But they didn’t get cars with no option, however.
whoa...that looks like the Batmobile! Cool!
What kind of Buick is that? I’ve never seen it and there is not one like it on buick.com
My husband builds power lines and we move from job to job. We live in our 5th wheel. It’s home. The one we have now is 39’ & weighs 18000 lbs empty. In the next year or so we’re buying a Teton. It’s 44’ and weighs 24500 empty. Hence the upgrade.
My husband wants me to get the exact color and model you picked out. FWIW, they can't keep them in stock over here and (I loved my last red caddie).
Enjoy :)

Damn nice looking auto!
The average person can wash the top of a station wagon without a stool.
I’ve heard now it’s a 3 month wait...I’m in San Diego and my car is waiting for me in AZ! I was lucky because the exact car I wanted was promised to my dealership as a showroom car. I still had to wait about five weeks. But it didn’t matter because I’m not there to get it. I called my salesguy and ask how my car is doing!
When I get it, I’ll give you a ping and let you know if it’s everything we’ve dreamed it would be!

The big test IMHO is, how well they hold up mechanically/resale-value wise.
Check out post #37...That’s my new ride! You and I will look really good cruising down La Jolla Blvd. in that this January!!!!!
Did you know that the red and the white diamond is $900 more????? THAT’s how much I wanted the red. If I didn’t get the red, I’d get the silver or dark blue. I love the dark blue, but it would be so dirty all the time.

A lot has changed at GM. Quality is WAY UP. My Chevy Tahoe is ‘the bomb!’
