From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
"I would do it again. I think I did more to help my country in the service than I ever would have done by myself. It was wonderful," Chris Ohlhues of Custer Park said in reflecting on her service in the U.S. Marines Corps during World War II at Parris Island in South Carolina.
Marines and others are invited to celebrate the 232nd birthday of the Corps from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday with cake and coffee at the Malcolm J. Mayo VFW Post 5422 at Baltimore and Third Street in Wilmington. The Marines were first commissioned by the Continental Congress on Nov. 10, 1775.

Happy Birthday, Baby! Umpteen years ago, I just missed birthing one of my babies on this special day, and my brother still gives me the berries for not getting the job done on the right. He couldn’t have walked a mile in my shoes that day...’specially after the water broke-my shoes were like small ponds and I was three floors away from the delivery room. I had a Marine escort, for crying out loud. Brother just wants too much ; )

Our local American Legion, Post 90, is assisting our Marine Corps birthday and ball and giving us free use of their hall.
I want to thank the Legion. It’s a great organization.
And members of the 1st MarDiv Association (Copper Country) are paying to cater the event.
We look forward to serving and honoring our Marine brothers and sisters and their families one more time.

In Nam we often worked with Marines. I was 101st.
One day we ran into a bunch of Marines that we had been in operations with weeks before. I asked one of the guys what had become of their Gunny, I think his name was Osborn. The Marine replied, "Gunny Mac has gone on guard", and solemnly walked off. I asked a Marine with him what his buddy meant by that and he recited the last stanza of the Marine Corp Hymn.
To all you Marines here and "on guard". Semper Fi and Happy birthday, you old leather necks.

I was MASS-2 Det A in Kaneohe in 1979-1981!
Of course, visiting Det B in the PI was hard duty, too...
Hey, Buzz, might be another 7208 here!

Barbary Coast Pirates = Muslims
They have been at it for centuries.
And the Marines have been there also.
