Flying Saucers Of The Third Reich

The "Bellonzo-Schriever-Miethe Disc"

The "Schriever-Habermohl" flying disc developed between 1943 and 1945 consisted of a stable dome-shaped cabin surrounded by a flat, rotating rim. Toward the end of the war, all the models and prototypes were reported destroyed before they could be found by the Soviets. According to postwar U.S. intelligence reports, however, the Russian army succeeded in capturing one prototype. After the war, both Schriever and Miethe, another German scientist involved in the design of flying disks, came to work for the U.S. under "Operation Paperclip"...

Maybe this explains Kucinich’s fascination with these things.

In 1880, I believe, we had the technology of the gatling gun.
65 years later, we had ball-turret gunners on stratofortresses over Germany.

In 1945, the Nazis had a flying saucer.
65 years later, we have old pamphlets from Nazi Germany talking about a flying saucer.

If this were real, it would be part of our daily lives.

Kucinich is the only one who knows how to pilot one of those - A conspiracy?

Makes sense.

Although as a kid I saw lots of blueprints in the back of comic books for building your own ‘flyin saucer’ using a briggs and stratton lawn mower engine...(chuckle)

The only way I would ever believe any of this interstellar wormhole traveling space monster bunk is if it came out that they were somehow being developed by the military. I don’t believe that, either, though.

>>If this were real, it would be part of our daily lives.<<

Why? It doesn’t look useful. Looks like a big flying prop engine. Stick it on a helicopter and you have, well, a helicopter.

If you’re interested in this subject, Nick Cook’s The Hunt for Point Zero is one of the most intriguing.

They did a docunentary on Point Zero on the Discovery channel, but I can’t recall what they named it.

This is an interesting historical tidbit (though the title sounds like a Late Late Show skiffy movie). However, it seems to have been a technological dead end, not providing any real advantage over existing aircraft.

Sidebar:

Below is a link to a site with lots of computer-generated images and
blueprints of what The Third Reich had on the drawing board before
(G-d Be Praised!), the Allies triumphed.

While it may be the work-product of a morally-bankrupt regime, there were
some very interesting prototypes cranked out before 1946 arrived!

I admit that like the Hugo Boss-designed uniforms, I do have to keep
in mind that these interesting designs came from The BAD guys!

Wrong. Look at it. It’s a helicopter in a disc shroud. We have all sorts of advanced helicopters. The disc shape is not useful or we would have disc shaped helicopters.

I'm no aviator OR aeronautical engineer.
But the blue print looks like a bladed fore-runner of that "disc"
that Avro (of Canada?) built a decade or so after WWII.

While an early helicopter might be a sensible explanation, there is this from the actual article:

For flying saucers do exist and have been around for many years. There is too much documented proof, so try to have an open mind. Most of the major powers of the world know this, although they all deny that fact. It has been one of the most heavily guarded secrets of the world.

Why would an early helicopter be "one of the most heavily guarded secrets of the world"? The people who believe this stuff, believe that it is far, far more than just a helicopter.

Also, there are links above (at post #13) which specualtes that not only did Nazi Germany have flying saucers -- they may have had atomic-powered flying saucers!

Looking for a rational explanation for this stuff ("It's a helicoper in a disc shroud")ignores the supposed details which make this topic so much fun.

The descriptions sound more like a Wespe than a flying saucer.

See also the later development:

For an design that was never developed, see this one from FW

and this unsuccessful model.
