Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani's former police commissioner Bernard Kerik is expected to be indicted by a federal grand jury on Friday, the Daily News has learned.
The charges include Kerik's alleged attempt to get a city official to influence the outcome of an investigation into mob-linked Interstate Industrial Co., according to two sources familiar with the matter.
Other charges accuse Kerik of allegedly making false statements when he was nominated to be Homeland Security director by President Bush, the sources say.
Kerik and his lawyers are negotiating the terms of his surrender to federal authorities Friday morning in Manhattan Federal Court, the sources said.
Tomorrow, prosecutors in the office of Manhattan U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia plan to ask the federal grand jury sitting in White Plains to consider the allegations against Kerik, the sources say.
If the grand jury votes to indict, the charges would then be unsealed on Friday.
Some of the charges are expected to center on Kerik's time as city Correction commissioner, the job he held before Giuliani put him in the top post at One Police Plaza, the sources say.

Bad news for KERIK!!
What other evidence/rumor/innuendo do you have against Rudy? Or do you just operate on anti- New York, anti-what?-Italian-fill-in-the-ethinic-group bias?
To think he was once considered to Homeland Security Secretary Not good Giuliani’s prospects.
Gee, what timing, lol!
I am not anti-anyone. I just suggested it is not good news for Rudy to be associated with this guy. Both my daughter and son lived in New York and support Rudy. As for myself I do not support Rudy as a candidate at this time, and it has nothing to do with his association with Kerik.
Anyways, besides Kerik rising to his Peter Principle, and restoring my faith in most govey workers as but grafters, what else is there factually against Rudy?
I don’t see how someone, anyone, is going to be Mayor of New York and not have corrupt, thieving, drug dealing lying cops, firemen, child molesting teachers, grifters and such. I am not aware of Kerick's crimes having anything to do with Rudy, except Kerick putting it to Rudy just as Kerick did to the city.
Uh, do you mean besides being a liberal, pro illegal immigrant, gun-grabbing transvestite?
Kerik was and is nothing more than a political hack.
Kerik’s Name Removed From New York Jail
Sunday, July 02, 2006
NEW YORK A city jail renamed to honor former police commissioner Bernard Kerik in 2001 has resurrected its previous name after he pleaded guilty to charges of taking gifts from construction firm.
Workers removed the sign from the Bernard B. Kerik Complex in lower Manhattan early Sunday and replaced it with one bearing a familiar name _ Manhattan Detention Complex, correction spokesman Michael Saucier said.
Kerik pleaded guilty last week to taking $165,000 in renovations on his apartment from Interstate Industrial Corp. _ a company that was trying to do business with the city _ and failing to report a $28,000 loan from a real estate developer.
Soon after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, then-Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani approved changing the Manhattan Detention Complex’s name to honor Kerik, who also had been correction commissioner.
In 2004, President Bush nominated Kerik to be the head of the Department of Homeland Security, but the nomination was withdrawn amid ethics questions.
