OVER THE LAST few months, I have joined you in taking the opportunity to meet the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination, to learn about their positions on the issues, to meet their families, and to examine their records. This is a critical election that will determine the future course of our country. When evaluating a candidate, we must take into account the full breadth of their experience, vision and values. What I have found is that Mitt Romney is the leader we need in Washington.
Our country needs Romney's experience in Washington. Throughout his career, he has taken on extraordinary challenges and has succeeded. In the private sector, he used his natural business skills to turn around many companies. At the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, he turned a $379 million deficit into a $100 million profit and fulfilled the dreams of a nation by putting on one the best games in Olympics history. In Massachusetts, he closed a nearly $3 billion budget gap without raising taxes or borrowing more money. Romney has a proven record of leadership and has been a force for change. Now our nation needs his leadership to bring conservative change to Washington and build a stronger America.
It is impossible to meet Romney and not come away with a clear understanding of his vision for the country. For him, it is very simple. It is about keeping America the strongest nation in the world with a strong economy, strong military and strong families.
Romney's strategy for a stronger America embodies New Hampshire's values. We believe that our government must live within its means and that we should lower taxes to strengthen our economy with good jobs. We believe in protecting our homeland and our families. We believe that our leaders in Washington should stand for principle. We believe in leaders like Mitt Romney.
I have been particularly impressed with his agenda to cut taxes and spending in Washington. More than any other candidate, he has laid out a conservative blueprint to cut taxes for all Americans and has proposed specific steps needed to end wasteful spending. Change in Washington begins with Congress returning to the principles of fiscal responsibility. I know that Romney will carry that mantle in Washington.
Even in the bluest of blue states, Romney fought for these values, and I am confident he will do the same in Washington. Armed with his tested and proven record of reducing taxes, cutting spending and reforming health care, we need his leadership in Washington.
Romney's experiences have taught him that to meet a new generation of challenges, we must call upon the strength of the American people, not increase the size of government. Romney will bring conservative change to Washington by leading Republicans with new ideas, new energy and strong leadership. New Hampshire needs Mitt Romney in Washington.
Judd Gregg is New Hampshire's senior U.S. senator.

Mr. Romney is a true leader and winner.
What? Is this an early creedal formation?
I support Romney because he is unique among all the candidates in that he has been a successful businessman AND has maintained a moral life with strong family values.
I think economic security is the most important issue and family values is important for our culture.
America’s economy needs Romney’s leadership and expertise.
Fred may be “more conservtive”, but so was Bush in 2004.
Basically, I want a smart man in the office, for a change. Can we have that? A Republican with brains?
Well, Mr. Romney would definitely be that and then some.
Slick. Very Slick (esp. with invoking the image of Ronald Reagan in the background). Thar’s the problem right thar. Willard is too darn slick for this conservative, ‘cause we all know darn tootin’ well that Willard ain’t no Ronald Reagan.
“America needs Mitt Romney’s leadership”!
Oh, sheeat, yes, I can hardly wait to haul my Redneck Ass down to the courthouse, and register every damned Machete we have, stuck in a stump, around here!
“Mr. Romney is a true leader and winner”? Hell, I reckon you would have really gone bonkers, over Mussolini!
Baby killin’, gay marriage flip-floppin’, northeast liberal RINO, conservative movement destroyin’ ............. BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Umm, welcome to FR, I guess.
LOL thanks!
Nah, he was for the machete registry before he was against it.
His lawyer advised him to change his position.
I think you’re being a little overboard there.
Of all of the candidates, Mr. Romney comes closest to me as Ronald Reagan — a true winner and leader.
It’s the time honored technique of illustrating the absurdity of supporting Mitt Romney by being absurd.
I’ll second that welcome!
And don’t forget a worker. Romney has been as successful as he has partly because he was out working well before the other schlub’s alarm clock even went off.
You have but to look at the amount of work he’s put in on the road to see he’s running circles around the rest of the pack. And that’s the mark of a true executive.
Has Judd Gregg been hit over the head lately?
I’m sorry, but to me, Mitt Romney wouldn’t be close to Ronald Reagan if he was buried 6ft down in Simi Valley.
PING for MITT ROMNEY in NH.
