When the top spymaster at Britain's supersecret MI5 comes out from the shadows to warn that things are dire and getting worse in jihadland, it's prudent to be very afraid of what tomorrow may bring.
Jonathan Evans, in an extraordinary public appearance, reports his outfit is watching more than 2,000 terrorism supporters in the U.K., homegrown and otherwise, a number that is up exponentially over a year ago. And building. It's clear, Evans says, that Al Qaeda masterminds are recruiting hordes of disaffected youngsters and have "a clear determination to mount terrorist attacks."
Pooh, predictably yawns a member of Britain's opposition party: nothing but "breathless talk." There's a lot of that going around. In America, for example, one presidential hopeful thinks any mention of Islamic extremism is just "the politics of fear."
But fear is what's called for in the face of an epic uprising of murderous fanatics who want all the planet as their gleaming caliphate. Standing in their way, fortunately, are people sensible enough to be alarmed. Like Evans. And Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. And, for that matter, rock star Bono, who recently startled a Rolling Stone interviewer with his unexpectedly illiberal opinion that jihadists are a real problem.
"There is an imminent threat," says Bono. "It's real and grave. It is as serious a threat as Stalinism and National Socialism. Let's not pretend it isn't." Exactly. Be afraid.
Bono is a boner!
MV
Jeez, even Bono of U2 recognizes the threat?
It's sad when Bono is more on target than some Republican Presidential candidates on this issue.
You like Bono that much?
Be armed...
Wow. I always thought Bono is some moonbat leftist. Good to see he realizes the threat. Now if he would use his prominence to make more people aware of the Islamic threat...
Wow...Bono even realizes now the Islamic Terrorist threat...
Too bad we have too many Americans who do not...
He probably sees the Muzzies invading his homeland and has changed his tune. Liberal version of NIMBY.
I always thought that too but was always puzzled that Bono never has had a problem hanging out with President Bush. I never could figure that out. I know Bono wanted AIDs money from the President but couldn't understand why he was so chumy with Bush. Most rock stars wouldn't be caught in a photo with Bush much less flying around on Air Force One with Bush. Bono seems to like President Bush.
I would bet, if you could get an honest answer out them, the vast majority of today's Bush/Republican-hating libs know what a threat I-fascism is today. If Gore or Kerry were president, they would all support anything those ineffectual toads would have done to fight terrorism...that's if they would have done something.
Because when Clinton sent troops in Somalia and Bosnia and missiles to Iraq, all the libs and Dems supported him. It's just that they simply can't acknowledge that the hated Chimpybushhitler could be right about anything. I guarantee you that if Hillary gets elected and continues to fight the terrorists, they (libs) will support her. Instantaneously the war on terror would be legitimate in lib eyes.
My several year old tagline pretty much sez it.
If anyone is listening...
>>It’s clear, Evans says, that Al Qaeda masterminds are recruiting hordes of disaffected youngsters and have “a clear determination to mount terrorist attacks.” <<
And in the 1930’s it read like this:
It’s clear, Evans says, that Hitler is recruiting hordes of disaffected youngsters and has “a clear determination to mount terrorist attacks.”
I wouldn’t sell Bono life insurance right now.
We need to get into Pakistan and do something with that border region. That is ground zero dude. We need to hit them where they live and train. We need to finish cleaning out Baghdad too.
Good on Bono. I also agree with some of what he says about world debt. On the one hand people should pay their debts, on the other hand when a repressive dictator takes out loans and then uses them to bully harass and kill his own population while putting the rest in swiss bank accounts for his family; is the nation that was abused by this dictator obliged to pay the interest on the down payment of their repression?
The affirmative support by the secular infidel in the west will continue to fuel the jihadist movement. By the time they try to pull their heads out of the sand, the sand may very well be glass.
Old news......Michael SAVAGE discussed this last nite.
