Robertson to Back Giuliani

Robertson to Back Giuliani By LIZ SIDOTI Associated Press Writer

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Pat Robertson, a prominent Christian leader and social conservative, will endorse Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, GOP officials confirmed Wednesday.

The former New York mayor backs abortion rights and gay rights, positions that put him in conflict with GOP orthodoxy, and has been trying to convince cultural conservatives to overlook their differences with him on those issues. That makes the support of a high-profile religious conservative like Robertson a particular boon.

Giuliani, the front-runner in national popularity polls, and Robertson will make the endorsement official later Wednesday at a news conference in Washington. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid publicly pre-empting the announcement.

The endorsement is a blow to rival Mitt Romney, who has been making inroads with the powerful network of social conservative leaders. Romney recently announced that Paul Weyrich and Bob Jones III were on board with his candidacy, and he had been seeking Robertson's support.

Robertson, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 1988, founded the Christian Broadcasting Network, the Christian Coalition and Regent University in Virginia Beach.

I can’t believe it. I am extremely disappointed in Pat.

I’ve got to ask you a question: what do you think about Huckabee..I don’t fully support him and hate his past stand on Illigals, taxes (it’s flip-flopping, why I can’t also support Mitt.), but there is some sort of trust factor for me because at least he seems to be ‘one of us’..? What do you think?

No, it's not, and it's all the more reason to unite behind the one electable conservative who can beat Rudy (he's already leading him in at least three states) --> Mitt Romney.

Like Ann Coulter said, "It's either Rudy or Mitt. Pick one."

The longer we split the conservative vote, the greater chance it will be Rudy.

This election cycle has done a good job exposing a lot of these supposed pro-life leaders as whores.

No religious conservative with integrity would support Rudy or Romney.

Becareful, you’ll run afoul of the PC police.
Thou shall NOT say anything positive about Rudy.

>That whooshing sound you hear is the last shred of Pat Robertson’s credibility flying out the window.<

You’ve got that right! I am stunned! The Establishment Elite’s use of fear to move their mountains works on people with weak moral principles, but on an avowed Evangelical? The church will bring about it’s own demise if they buckle to the EE’s manipulation!

It is time we stand tall for our conservative moral standards and courageously vote our values. Check out http://www.gohunter08.com! Take the time to log onto http://www.youtube.com/RasterMasterTV ! If what you learn on those websites matches the dreams you have for the leader of our country, you will vote for Duncan Lee Hunter.

Postmoderenists have taken a leaf from the communist playbook, and spend a lot of time twisting the meaning of words. Thus pro-abortion becomes pro-choice, or family planning, or a woman’s right to choose, etc.

Naturally they will try to twist “strict constructionist.” But the meaning is clear enough, and there’s no point looking for new words, they’ll just twist those, too. Strict constructionist, literalist, originalist, all pretty much mean reading what the constitution says and the founders intended it to say, rather than what some liberal thinks it ought to say in order to keep up with the latest fashions.

The problem with Rudy is that he says women have a constitutional right to abortion and to having the taxpayers pay for it. So, that’s what HE means by strict construction. Clinton constantly did the same thing. Parsing, as he called it.

Cut the dramatics.

Rudy is a radical, baby-killing, gun-grabbling liberal. If you can deny that with facts, then post them.

He can't even hold a family together and you want to turn over a nation to him?

So I'll take it you didn't like Reagan either?

I have been a contributor to CBN for over 20 years. I have just finished printing out a letter telling them why I will not be continuing my monthly support.
If I don't hear a retraction from Pat by the end of the day, this will be in the mail. Sigh..

Chuckling. For more than a few us, we are hearing years old echos of the whooshing sound you speak of.

Ditto. But who'd you expect him to endorse? (I mean where are all the evangelicals who should have been riled up when several evangelicals started endorsing Romney?)

Your complaint was Rudy’s inability to “hold a family together.” Reagan was unsuccessful in that area as well, but I for one think he did a pretty good job. If you want to revise your remarks to complain that two marriages are fine, but three are an abomination, that’s cool with me. Sadly, neither of them had good relationships with their kids.

Because he represents a CHRISTIAN organization, who has been very supportive of PRO-LIFE issues and all issues that are important to social conservatives.

He basically just said that those issues are now second-tier.

I am willing that a lot of 700 Club supporters are stunned. I am not one and don’t particularly look to Pat Robertson, and I am surprised. For him to do this in the PRIMARY season is startling.

If we can count on Rudy to pick Supreme Court justices wisely, how is it that he seems to consistently choose wives that he later decides aren't up to the job?

What makes you think any of his appointments would be any wiser?

Is this another one of those Larry Craig cases? Is that why the marriages never seem to work?
