On today's "The Situation Room," Sen. Hillary Clinton opened up about her widely-discussed performance during last week's MSNBC debate. (You can watch the video here on Breitbart.tv)
"I wasn't at my best the other night," Clinton told CNN's Candy Crowley. "We have had a bunch of debates, and you know, I wouldn't rank that up in my very top list." Following the debate, Clinton's opponents for the 2008 Democratic nomination (as well as Hillary detractors generally) criticized the New York senator for being dishonest and evasive, and for flip-flopping on several issues.
But Clinton disagreed with some of the criticism:
I have answered probably -- oh, I don't know, more than 5,000 questions in the last 10 months. And I have been very clear about where I stand and what I want to do for the country. I have laid out very specific plans on how we are going to have a different energy agenda, how we are going to have a health care plan that covers everybody, how we are going to improve our education system and all of the other issues that people talk to me about, as well as what we need to do to restore America's leadership around the world. And I have even put out how I'm going to pay for each and every one of the policies that would cost money.
Crowley also pressed Clinton about the White House records from her husband's administration and whether there was anything she could do to expedite their release.
We have tried and, as I said, he has done more than any other president and has never withheld any document that has been processed to be ready to be released.
During the debate, Clinton struck some as evasive when it came to her answer about driver's licenses and illegal immigrants. Crowley asked Clinton, "If I wrote a story that said: 'Absent a broad illegal immigration bill, Hillary Clinton agrees about giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants,' is that correct?" Clinton responded:
No. What I have said is that I support what governors are trying to do. And governors are on the front lines because of the failures to get comprehensive immigration reform. There are already eight states that issues driver's licenses without any verification of citizenship. That is a decision that the governors and legislatures and the people of those states have made. ... I think that if you go back and look at the complexity of this issue, I don’t think a lot of these hard questions lend themselves to raising your hand. And I know that that’s easier in a 30 second context to try to do.
Finally, Clinton addressed the heat she's received from the other Democratic candidates following the debate:
If they want to use their energy attacking me, that’s their choice. I am going to use my energy focusing on a new energy policy and so much else. I’m not running anybody else’s campaign and I love what Harry Truman said if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. And I’m really comfortable in the kitchen. So I’m staying in.

Like she’s ever been her beast, I mean best.
She’s lying....she WAS at her best....that’s about the BEST you can expect of her.....
She wasn’t in her pink pantsuit talking about baking cookies.
So, if she becomes POTUS, her excuse, when she makes a mistake, will be “ I wasn’t at my best the other night”
Excuse me … to be elected President of the United States, you don’t have excuses.

It’s the only thing she’s said that’s true.
When everything is staged to hide your true self, what is your best? Lord, we wouldn’t want the entire county to find out we’re a superficial, lying, unpatriotic, socialist who is only concerned with becoming president, not protecting a country’s heritage and future.

She’s no Harry Truman.
Never before on a national stage has such a complete lightweight tried to condescend to an obviously completely superior electorate. She hasn’t a clue.
Unfortunately he won't be any time soon either.
She didn’t have her lady friend hiding in her podium and giving her comforting massage that night!

The only reason that she is in the running … she is a female. There is no other reason. Her political points are mute, her intellect is in question and her morals have always been a subject of question.
