LOL! Well, kudos to you for your honesty; we all know your Mama raised ya right.
The giveaway was, I think that the article was "marble-topped," which seemed to me to indicate that the top was of some different material than the rest of it. Also, I'm not familiar with many toiltes that have a "top". There is the tank, lid, seat, bowl...no "top"; at least not in common usage. So, I had to go with it being either the fancy washstand, or the cabinet.
So the abuse she suffered at an early age entitles her to live a lavish style while her employees live on subsistence wages?
Is this responsible use of funds entrusted to her?

I’m torn over this news. I became a Christian last Spring. While browsing
through some Christian books I came across Joyce Meyer’s “Battlefield of the
Mind” which has literally changed my life for the better. I’ve since
purchased several other books by her and have and are enjoying them all.
I truly believe that God is using Joyce Meyer to teach and help me.
However, these expenses are obscene to me! The money spent on that could be better used and I’m surprised that given the way Joyce writes and teaches that this has happened. I also don’t like the way she is treating her
employees. Maybe Joyce needs a huge slice of humble pie........
I’m sitting on the fence on this one until more information comes out.
I guess that someone with a $23,000 toilet could always find work as a purchaser for the Pentagon...
I sure do, but I wonder if even He takes issue if one of his professed "servants" pays their help piddle, while they live in a $2 million dollar house paid for by the ministry.
The workman is worthy of his hire. If Joyce is that blessed, she should have an employee profit-sharing plan, full medical/dental benefits and 401Ks for her employees and they should be making more than minimum wage.
If she does not, her help should quit--it would serve her right. Where would her ministry be if everyone walked out on her?
I hate to say this but she always struck me as being a really mean person underneath, who is obsessed with herself and her message, more than the Gosepl of Jesus Christ.
Well, it might have been brought to their attention by someone who felt their donation was somehow being misused. It's one thing to have the donations help spread the word and another to have it lavished on oneself, i.e. Jim Bakker. That can be illegal and hence the govt's 'business'.
Her show has been on a local channel from her early days. In the beginning, she was simply dressed with poorly lit inexpensive looking sets. I was hoping money and increased viewership wouldn't get in the way of her teaching, as it certainly has turned the heads of some televangelists. I hope it hasn't but she sure has used the money to spruce up her outfits and settings.
Yes, she has made mistakes. She has corrected all the ones I’ve been aware of, though it took - in some cases - longer than I’d hoped. Their are many perspectives to her ministry. But, she believes that leaders should be held to a higher standard, including herself.
It is nice that we are able to express our opinions, but in most cases that is all they are. Why any Freeper would take the press accounts of her ministry as credible is beyond me. How many times has the press - especially the old grey witch - led with ridiculous stories only to have them disappear the next day, or retractions get buried in section T, on page 66, col 8, below the fold, 6 months after the story.
I could go on, but no purchase would follow.

Ms Meyers writes that Jesus went to Hell and was tormented by demons for three days. Where in the Bible do you find that reference? Jesus said on the cross, ‘I is finished.’ His blood washed away my sin.
She then says he became the first God-Man. That is not just wrong - it is heresy.
Many times JMM does things for the employees that do not show up in their salary.
And it would be a mis-characterization to suggest that the employees of JMM are having to be convinced “that theirs is not just a job but they are a part of a ministry — doing God’s work.”
Many seek work there just for that reason - but without having to be convinced. They are, many times, reacting to what they feel they are called to do.
It will all come out in the wash. She is a charlatan like the rest of the TBN personalities.

There are much better books you could read. JOhn Macarthur, Bob DeWaay, Roger Oakland, Warren Smith, Ray Comfort...
try www.livingwaters.com for some great books that will help you and nourish you in your spiritual growth. Joyce Meyers is all about more and more LAW (as opposed to GOSPEL which is what motivates us, by the Holy Spirit, to live for Christ in the first place!) and ‘pulling yourself up by your bootstraps’ which is not what the Christian life is about.

So the workers for JMM are working for low wages because they are working for the Lord; and JMM is spending money on expensive furniture, houses, jet planes and cars because ... well, I dunno, something sounds wrong to me here.
HUH? If she isn't preaching the gospel (and she isn't, she is preaching the Word Faith heresy) then nothing she does is good, no matter how it looks to the world. Feeding the Lord's sheep means feeding them GOOD TEACHING and pure milk and meat of the Word. Not "Jesus wants you to be rich and successful." Jesus calls us to come and die. Take up your cross, your death sentence. Give up home, family, life, if he asks. Lose friends for the sake of the Truth of the Gospel. Sounds a LOT different than what comes from just about ANY of the TBN preachers (except Ray Comfort's show, which I would suppose won't last long on TBN because Comfort IS faithful to God's word.)

Talk about mixed up priorities. Joyce Meyer will plop down $23,000 on a toilet seat but won’t waste any dough on her hair. What’s up with that?
Well, she’s sixty - she must be doing something with the hair. I know she’s undergone the plastic surgery. Wonder what the Apostle Paul could have done if he’d looked good and had a 23,000 commode! I suppose a woman has to have her priorities.
