NEW YORK POST ^ | November 5, 2007 | Inside Albany By Frederic Dicker

Somber Democrats are privately conceding Gov. Spitzer's controversial plan to license illegals has done the impossible--reviving NY's long-moribund Republican Party. "He's the best thing for Republicans since Mario Cuomo," influential Democrats angrily told The Post. Democratic candidates told the governor's political advisers to keep him far away from their campaigns. Republican leaders have begun joking that Spitzer should be named their party's "honorary strategic advisor" .........Democrats and Republicans agree Spitzer's licensing plan has:

* Seriously damaged Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign, as shown in last week's Democratic presidential debate.

* Helped guarantee blowout GOP wins in hotly fought contests upsatate.

* Virtually ended Spitzer's chance to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate.

I could not agree more! The beast is going to run into home state problems she can’t imagine yet. The Speaker of the NYS Assembly has just thrown spitzer under a bus on his illegal alien license plan. The local rat does not want to be associated with him. This will put ITT in a tough spot. Nice.

Oh but this can’t be true! Newsweek ran a poll which showed the debate performance had NOT hurt Clinton. It was at the top of their home page! They wouldn’t lie to us!

It wasn’t Eliot who hurt Hillary, it was Hillary who hurt Hillary.

Now for the bad news joe mondello runs the state republican party. He once ran nassau county which was the bastion of republicanism, now totally democrat. Republicans still have a long way to go.

Yeah, because before this, Spitzer was taken very seriously as a presidential candidate.

Yep.

And before that it was Stephen Minarik, who was a disaster after running Monroe County's GOP. The guy before him wasn't all that particularly good either, I forget his name.

Why aren't they picking rural GOP leaders here? That's where the Republicans all are in upstate New York.
