CBN News ^ | 11/5/2007 | David Brody

Posted on 11/05/2007 1:17:00 PM PST by Bosco

This is a big one folks. In a Brody File exclusive, we've found out that Paul Weyrich, the former co-founder of The Moral Majority has endorsed Mitt Romney for President. The Brody File has the press release. Read below:

Today, Paul Weyrich, Chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation, announced his support for Governor Mitt Romney and his campaign to be our country's next President. Paul Weyrich is one of the premier leaders in the conservative movement, having founded the Heritage Foundation and the American Legislative Exchange Council.

"As he travels across the country, Governor Romney has outlined a blueprint to build a stronger America rooted in our common conservative principles. With a clear conservative vision to move America forward, he will strengthen our economy, our military and our families. More importantly, he already has an exceptional record of putting conservative values to work. Because of his experience, vision and values, I am proud to support Governor Romney," said Paul Weyrich.

With today's announcement, Governor Romney said, "Paul Weyrich has put his stamp on the conservative movement in this country. It is an honor to have his support and counsel. Through our efforts, we can work to ensure that Washington always stands on the side of building stronger American families."

They got the liberal RINO they should have expected to get.

Romney signs his RomneyCARE-1 = HillaryCARE (RomneyCARE-2 =HezbollahCARE)
as the Massachusetts Dems gather around their docile, and quite eager-to-please, RINO
who screwed the public by removing their right to vote for so much.

This will have a huge impact on the Romney campaign. /s BTW, I'm a born-again, Conservative Christian; who's Paul Weyrich?

You might want to read at least the first paragraph of an article before attempting sarcasm. Kinda like stretching before a workout.

I cannot fathom why any (real) conservative would even consider voting for anybody who was elected by the mice of Massachusetts.

"I like both Romney and Thompson, but I want to know why he didn’t endorse Thompson? He wasn’t bought. Give me an honest answer to why you think he didn’t endorse Thompson.
I want to know."

This might help:

The Thompson Campaign
By Paul Weyrich
Thursday, September 13, 2007

.....

The entry of Thompson helps former Mayor Rudolph "Rudy" Giuliani. Thompson splits the conservative vote between Romney, Senator John S. McCain, III and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is edging toward top-tier status. Pollster Frank Luntz believes that McCain won the debate overall, Huckabee second.

.....

Thompson has been a United States Senator. His Senatorial performance was mediocre. He chaired a committee that was supposed to investigate Chinese money which had infiltrated the 1996 campaign of William J. (Bill) Clinton and other Democratic nominees. Instead Senator John H. Glenn (D-OH) turned the hearing so that it became an investigation of bad Republican fundraising practices. Glenn was thereafter rewarded with another trip into space, something he badly had wanted.

It is not entirely clear what Thompson believes. When he was Senator he seemed to support an open-borders approach to immigration. In recent speeches Thompson has not supported President George W. Bush's comprehensive immigration reform bill, which was soundly defeated.

There is the question of the Federal Marriage Amendment. Thompson initially stated that, although he is a federalist, he reluctantly supported the Amendment because it was too important to do otherwise. Now his staff has put out a clarification suggesting that Thompson does not support the Amendment. That greatly has upset social conservatives, many of whom believe that support for the Amendment a deal breaker. Thus far, Thompson has declined to meet with important social conservatives to clarify the matter.

Judging by that, Weyrich has a seriously misguided view with respect to Fred. Apparently he fails to understand that Fred negotiated in good faith with the Democrats on his committee to investigate Chinagate, but Fred was the victim of their fraud. They had no intention of cooperating and getting to the facts. Glenn’s reward for obstruction was to get sent back into space by Clintoon. As I said, Weyrich needs to get some perspective. He’s blaming the WRONG person, and going with a liberal RINO phony in this contest shows he clearly has lost touch with reality and sold out the ideology he claims to represent. It’s shameful.

You mean those boys of his who instead of joining the military worked for Mitt’s campaign?

I was more interested in Mitt’s fruits of public service. What are those?

You know Reagan carried that state twice, right?

Keep in mind that, at the time, Thompson had a Republican majority in the Senate and he STILL bent to the Democrat agenda on this issue. This foretells how he may act as President with a Democrat majority in the House and the Senate.

Hi, I just joined, and not finding any introduce yourself thread, I thought I start here.

I’m a longtime Republican (since Reagan era) and believe Romney will be the most effective conservative candidate. He has the energy to beat Clinton. I admire his private sector accomplishments and his personal family background.

The co-founder of Heritage Foundation endorsing Romney doesn’t surprise me. I will not be surprise at all if James Dobson, Pat Robertson and other Christian conservatives endorse Romney. I think people want a man with strong business experience and at the same time live a moral life in the White House.

That's a nice photo of Mitt really. I was getting tired of the same old Mittpix here. He's a glamourous guy, well-groomed, well-dressed so you should get a lot of good pix of him.

I found a new stash. I will do my best :-)

Welcome to FR. Precious Willard is a flipflopping liberal RINO opportunist who buried the Republican Party of Massachusetts. Please refer to my 2,000+ posts to learn the truth about Romney’s destructive reign of error.

Welcome aboard!

I agree with you 100%. The anti-Mitt Nit Wits are a rabid bunch. They all have other agendas. Ronald Reagan could rise up and support Mitt and in their hatred, they would try and make Reagan look bad.

They’ve trashed every national figure coming forward to endorse Mitt. Shows you what true fools they are. I think any rational individual can see through them. Actually they do Mitt a big favor by keeping these threads bumped and his name out there.

I actually discovered Mitt because of the thrashing he was getting around here. I actually started reading his record and liked what I saw. We must thank the hate crowd for part of Mitt’s success!

Why don’t you go support your conservative and leave us alone. You are really lame in your posts. I can see why your candidate hasn’t a prayer if you represent those that support him.
