Md. Court Rejects Sniper's Appeal
Associated Press ^ | Nov 5, 2007 | KRISTEN WYATT

Washington-area sniper John Allen Muhammad does not deserve a new trial in Maryland, a state appeals court ruled Monday in a sharply worded unanimous decision that compared Muhammad to Jack the Ripper.

The state Court of Special Appeals said Muhammad terrorized the Washington region in a rampage similar to that of the notorious Victorian serial killer who murdered at least five East London prostitutes in 1888.

But the three-judge panel noted one distinction: "Jack the Ripper has never yet been brought to justice. The Beltway snipers have been."

Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo were convicted last year on six counts of first-degree murder in Montgomery County in the October 2002 shootings that terrorized the area. Ten people were killed and three were wounded in the shootings in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.

"The sense of dread that hovered over the entire community was immeasurable. The six lives that were taken were but a part of an incalculable toll," Judge Charles Moylan wrote in the 152-page opinion.

Muhammad, 46, and Malvo are in prison in Virginia, where Muhammad was sentenced to death and Malvo to life without parole...

Muhammad claimed he should get a new trial because he was wrongly allowed to represent himself and was wrongly deemed mentally fit to stand trial.

Why is this murderous child raping perv still alive? Or is he about to become a celebrity cause for the Socialists?

After all, he's black, gay, muslim, and most of his kills were only white people. If he starts writing poetry, he will become a political prisoner...

Unfortunately, this Court is not the highest court in Maryland. The Court of Appeals, which is the highest court, has demonstrated an amazing lack of cojones when dealing with murderers. The ray of hope here is that the spineless prosecutors in Montgomery County didn’t seek the death penalty. The fact that a death sentence is not involved may temper some of the enthusiasm the Court of Appeals often shows for reversing murder convictions.

The Wheels of Justice will continue to grind ...

Then the Commonwealth of Virginia will order him strapped to a gurney, and his veins pumped full of poison.

He will die, and go off the the tender mercies of "allah".

Why is this POS still alive?

In a SANE world — this POS would have been worm excrement a long time ago...

Neither Mumia Abu-Jamal, or Tookie Williams III deserved any pity, never-the-less, what happened? You can bet the farm and all the cattle that some "social justice" type, with defective tear ducts will be wailing about how he has repented, and how can a civilized society think about wasting this sociopath?

Charles Starkweather killed a gas station attendant on 12/1/57. On 5/5/58 he went to trial. On 6/25/59 Charlie fried in the Nebraska electric chair. That is 13 months between trial and execution.

What are the chances Muhammed will be around to celebrate New Year, 2017?

I think you left out that Charles Starkweather killed 11 people, not just one, but your point is valid still the same.

I wonder if it’s okay to commute a sentence to a more severe penalty? Y’know, because that POS should have been taking a dirt nap long ago, not filing appeals.
