LIST of the WEEK'S EVENTS including Reading of the Names.
Here is a quick break down of Saturday's events.
There is going to be a Opening Ceremony from 10 AM till 11 AM on the Mall at 3rd ST. between Jefferson and Davis Drives.
Closes Metro is the Blue/Orange Line stop at Federal Center, SW. But if you want to enjoy a nice morning stroll along the Mall, any of the other stops are good.
There is a Parade from 11 AM til 4 PM. It appears to start where the opening Ceremony is and go to the Washington Monument grounds. The route is not given.
At the Washington Monument Grounds from 12 noon till 6 PM the flyer says "Parade participants and the general public can enjoy a variety of activities and street vendors".
There is a great line up of entertainers on Saturday.
The flyer also says book your rooms and make travel arrangements at www.vva.org

Guarding Angels kept me off that Wall.
Thank you so much for your service.
Good Veterans Day to you and all those who served.
I did, and there I was, right in there with several of the folks I'd grown up with or served with ~ they were kind of clustered there ~ time dilation effect I'd imagine.
And when I saw that picture I can tell you my knees turned to water, and I was faint, and my heart doubled its normal rate and there was a throbbing in my temples.
Later on other folks showed me their pictures, and there they were ~ right there on the wall.
Then to add the additional dead due to the Elite Left, the Liberals and the Democrats supporting the Viet Cong and North Vietnam, makes me way too blood boiling mad to visit there.
I hope God can forgive those cowards and the new Liberal Democratic Party they have birthed to support the Islamic Terrorists over their own nation, because I cannot!
I've seen the Moving Wall in Texas and Oklahoma and made some rubbings of my fallen shipmates.
I've visited my great grandfather's name on a Vicksburg monument several times.
I take comfort in the thought that some remote descendent of mine will one day, far in the future, point me out to a friend and tell him/her that I did my duty in Vietnam and to my country and the Navy.
I'll second your thoughts.
For me, as time goes on, it is actually tougher from me to visit my brother's name the Wall, and I live just outside of D.C.
Maybe it's the knowledge that I'm getting closer to the day that I'll see him again.
It does get harder.
Recently a fellow named Gooie Gomez, a highly decorated Marine Air gunny passed on. He flew with my best friend who was awarded a posthumous Silver Star.
I do look up his name every single time I go down there. Still can't believe it. These guys live forever as long as we remember them.

The travelling Viet Nam Wall visits the major cities in the US. It is a time to pay homage to our Vets when you see it.

The Wall is one of the most simple, yet moving monuments ever designed by a human being to honor the sacrifice of our soldiers.
How well I remember the controversy about the “black scar in the ground” 25 years ago.
Yet, it had the opposite effect. Silently, it speaks the names of those who are no longer among us, but who died in our service. The act of descending and again ascending makes you realize the tremendous cost this war visited upon us, in every town and county throughout America.
In the smooth granite we see their names, but we also see ourselves. The linkage is breathtaking, the symbolism awesome.
Maya Lin was absolutely brilliant as the designer.
Senators like Biden, Kennedy, Kerry, Leahy, and others still in the Senate broke faith with those died in the effort to stop the Communist takeover of Vietnam. Because of their treasonous activities, The Communists soon overran South Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, killing over 3 million people in the quest to once again attempt to create a socialist paradise. Jane Fonda can take credit for helping to establish the killing fields with them.
They alone cheapened and threw away the sacrifice of these, our friends and loved ones.
58,000 names.
Each one a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a nephew,a cousin, a neighbor, a friend. A few were sisters and daughters as well.
We cannot allow this Senate to repeat their treason in Iraq.
That is one reason [Mrs] T and I have dedicated ourselves to attending as many Support the Troop Rallies as our budget can support, and then some.
And being in the D.C. area, there is a gold mine of Rallies/counter protests to attend.

Real good picture and appropriate for this thread. Key board too blurry to say more. Thanks
