Lots of talk going on about Hunter and whether this is a sourced release, etc. and what direct influence Romney may or may not have with Bain.
My simple concerns are these:
- Is the Chinese company partnering with Bain run by this guy that they pupport?
- Is it true that he supported the Taliban and Saddam against our troops?
- Is the head of the chinese company in fact a front for the PLAN?
If any one, two, or all of those are true, then whether Hunter actually wrote the letter, whether Romney is or is not any longer directly involved with Bain, etc., etc., ad nauseum is irrelevent to me.
The only relevent point to me is why this deal even has a prayer of going through, and why all the Presidential candidates, regardless of stripe, are not speaking out against it.
If Hunter is speaking out against it, and advising or asking other candidates to do likewise...bully for him. He should be.
Given these conditions, if true, it IS a national security issue and therefore does fall under the umbrella of scrutiny for national security reasons...because 3COM is deeply involved with the cyber security of the DOD and the Chinese have stated directly and are acting on it, their intent to be able to oppose us in that areana.
Just my htoughts on the issue.

Concerns over the 3com deal are appropriate. But is Hunter right to go past his own House connections and committees, the Senate, the National Security Council, the CIA, the NSA, the DoD, and President Bush and instead blame Romney because a company he once headed has some involvement with this Chinese company?
It seems a lot more political than anything likely to be effective. In the end, it won't even be effective. Romney is too smart to respond. So is Bain, I think.

Adding to that. 3Com and Bain are currently being reviewed by and for National Security issues. I’ve not seen an official release on that. Just references to the process in other articles.
