That statement is not exactly false. Bain was founded in 1984 by Mitt Romney, T. Coleman Andrews III and Eric Kriss.
It's not exactly true either.
It would be inappropriate for Romney to involve himself in Bain investments now, especially as a former principal and as a political candidate.
Romney can disinvest his Bain holdings or he can ignore Hunter. Most likely, he's already placed them in a blind trust. Those two options are the only two ethical choices he has. And I think Hunter probably knows that.
Romney will ignore this. And he should.

Romney being a founder is true. And since we have no way of knowing the interworkings of the business relations, we can’t comment on what is true in the current sense.
Right now, this is a National Security issue and I’m very sure they know more about this than we do. Bain can’t ignore Hunter. He is involved with National Security.
Look at Global Crossings. They are still trying to create ‘new’ business partners (Singapore Telecom) to get around the National Security ruling of 4 years ago.
