Michael Savage tells Muslims 'take your religion and shove it up your behind'

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on radio listeners of all faiths to contact companies that advertise on Michael Savage's nationally-syndicated radio program to express their concerns about the host's recent anti-Muslim tirade.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said Savage, whose "The Savage Nation" airs on more than 300 radio stations nationwide, screamed attacks on Muslims, Islam and the Quran, Islam's revealed text, during his October 29, 2007, program. A number of concerned listeners contacted CAIR about Savage's attacks on Islam.

Savage's shouted anti-Muslim attacks included:

"I'm not gonna put my wife in a hijab. And I'm not gonna put my daughter in a burqa. And I'm not gettin on my all-fours and praying to Mecca. And you could drop dead if you don't like it. You can shove it up your pipe. I don't wanna hear anymore about Islam. I don't wanna hear one more word about Islam. Take your religion and shove it up your behind. I'm sick of you."

"What kind of religion is this? What kind of world are you living in when you let them in here with that throwback document in their hand, which is a book of hate. Don't tell me I need reeducation. They need deportation. I don't need reeducation. Deportation, not reeducation. You can take C-A-I-R and throw 'em out of my country. I'd raise the American flag and I'd get out my trumpet if you did it. Without due process. You can take your due process and shove it."

"What sane nation that worships the U.S. constitution, which is the greatest document of freedom ever written, would bring in people who worship a book that tells them the exact opposite. Make no mistake about it, the Quran is not a document of freedom. The Quran is a document of slavery and chattel. It teaches you that you are a slave."

Michael Savage has a long history of rhetorical attacks on Muslims and other minorities. In 2004, Savage stated: "I think [Muslims] need to be forcibly converted to Christianity...It's the only thing that can probably turn them into human beings." In 2006, he called for a ban on Muslim immigration and recommended making "the construction of mosques illegal in America."

"Michael Savage obviously cares little about the safety or civil rights of American Muslims, but the stations that carry his hate-filled rants do care about listeners' attitudes toward advertisers who pay to air commercials during his program," said CAIR Communications Coordinator Amina Rubin. "Americans of all faiths should take a few minutes to contact any local station that broadcasts Savage's inflammatory tirades to say they will not buy the goods or services of his advertisers."

Rubin added that hate-filled words can and do lead to violent actions against American Muslims. She said there have been several recent apparently bias-related incidents targeting mosques, Islamic institutions and Muslim individuals nationwide.

In Ohio, Nazi swastikas and the phrase "white power" were spray-painted on a Toledo Islamic school and rocks were thrown at worshipers outside a Columbus mosque. In Texas, a shot was fired into a mosque. In New York, a Muslim woman was badly beaten in a bias attack. In California, arsonists torched one mosque and a group of men attacked another. In Maryland, vandals slashed the tires of vehicles owned by a Muslim activist.

CAIR's latest annual report on the status of American Muslim civil rights showed a 25 percent increase in the total number of complaints of anti-Muslim bias from 2005 to 2006.

SEE: The Status of Muslim Civil Rights in the United States - 2007 http://www.cair.com/Portals/0/pdf/2007-Civil-Rights-Report.pdf

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 33 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

But yes, he did call Islam one of the world's "great" religions about five years ago.

Well, I think back then that was more or less the default opinion about Islam. Most people really didn't know much about it and kind of assumed it was Christianity with a turban I think. The really weird thing is that I'm almost certain I heard him spouting the "great religion that's been hijacked" type nonsense within the last couple of weeks, which is just bizarre - especially when he goes off like this.

From your Churchill quote:

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

Every single one of them IMO. The bolded part is the result of following Islam and the Muslim religion.

That's cause we gotta a bunch of slackers here in the states- over in Iraq, Islamofascists are cutting the heads off numerous hostages on camera for Al Jazeera. I don't see anything like that happening over here? Get with the program all you hate groups! /sarcasm

Mark Levin has done more for the military and victims of the WOT than any talk show person.

I have seen him at the Ollie North - Sean Hannity Freedom
concerts that has raised 10 million dollars for kids who lost a parent in the war for their education.

Mark has on family members of those killed in the war of severly wounded.

He has on often Debra Burlingame whose bro. was the pilot
of the plane the terrorist slamed into the pentagon.
She is one of the best spokeperson for what the terrorists
are doing and why we have to fight them.

Sorry, "real" indicates that one speaks from the heart. Speaking from the heart indicates a deeply held conviction. And a deeply held conviction, provided one is sane, would indicate at least a modicum of consistency.

Sybil changes from day to day and from month to month. There is nothing consistent about him. And that is irritating and, frankly, annoying.

Mr. Savage may be difficult to listen to, at times because of his rants.
But I heard this one, and I loved every second of it.

God bless Savage for his commitment to America.

Mike is an excellent screen-shot of 1955 America. I love they guy and his passion, but he is afraid of realpolitik, and, in the end, is a net rabble-rouser. Nothing positive or constructive ever comes out of him, just rage and angst.

I listen to him daily. I lost respect for him in summer '06, when his ego broke its dirty cage.

Personally, I like him and snort when he snorts, but he just lacks the guts to analyze and deal with reality.

Mike telling me how to fry scampi? Or what old NY was like? Or attacking Pelosi/Boxer/Feinstein? I'm all there. Mike telling me why W is worse than pubic lice? I'm switching channels.

It seems some would prefer to make the messenger the issue and not the message itself when it comes to Savage.. or is it just me?

No Norm, it's not just you. I really REALLY need to go back to listening to him...

He is almost 70, havent you heard him complain about his health problems lately?
Many think he may quit radio within 6 months because of his health.

Mike has consistently been rated 8+ million by Talkers mag for years. He has raised hundreds of thousands, just from listeners, for the defense of Haditha marines. His website gets millions of hits per month. 25 Million voted in a poll on his website, saying he should run for president. All four of his books on politics were NYtimes bestsellers, in a row.

But people only listen while they are driving home from work.

the problem is that savage is so unpredictable that he has to be taken with a grain of salt.

There is no question that he got this one right. The problem is that 2 days from now he could flip.

CAIR has 33 whopping chapters. ya, and only 1500 members.
they compare to the ONE complainer that got the flag ceremony banned.

We should support Savage because he fears no one, but the libs sure fear him.
