WASHINGTON - In a challenge to the Bush administration, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., introduced legislation Wednesday that would ban photo identification as a requirement for voting in federal elections. Ellison's bill reflects the Minnesota practice, which does not require photo ID for the purpose of voter verification. Ellison has a companion bill that mirrors the state's law allowing eligible voters to register for federal elections on Election Day.
Ellison's voting initiative comes after an uproar surrounding the statement of a top Justice Department official addressing charges by civil rights activists that photo ID requirements discriminate against minorities, senior citizens or young people.

I say limit the voting franchise to those who pay income taxes. It is suicidal to allow those who have no positive stake in our constitutional system to vote.

sounds like SOME republican has the opportunity to FIND A SPINE and introduce a contrary bill.
Diogenies would have an easier time finding an honest man in DC than finding a republican with a spine.

I just keep asking myself, What the heck is wrong with those people up on Minnesota! Ah, most of them can't vote for filling the seat in the 5th district?
Do I win?
I wouldn't give up MY congresswoman for anything.
Michelle Bachmann rocks with conservative values and sensibility!

It is suicidal to allow those who have no positive stake in our constitutional system to vote. You just alienated about 50% of the voters with one statement.
All of them liberal Democrats!

Ellison is LYING explicitly.
States with ID requirements have provisional ballot contingency in the law. ADDITIONALLY STATES GIVE FREE PHOTO ID!
NO CHARGE!
One state will even come to your house.
Ellison is a complete and utter liar.

Thank you. I might say the same for the people who elected him. I don’t believe they even know what they views are. They just grab without thinking what sounds good even thought it is usually a lie.
In other words; no deep thinking around there. It’s all about soundbites, so to speak. LOL

Not requiring photo ID does, in fact, discriminate against real citizens casting real ballots.I've lived in the same voting district since 1990 and have never been asked to show an approved identification.
I still always have my DL out and prepared to show it when I vote.
It's just the right thing to do to be prepared.

Eight of the 911 terrorists, not one a US citizen, were registered to vote. If anything, voting ID requirements need to be strengthened, not weakened. Of course Ellison is both a Democrat and an apologist for Islamist terror. He WANTS foreigners, including terrorists, to vote in US elections. The rest of us must resist the Fifth Column traitors undermining both our security and our political system.

Learning and understanding the views about who they vote for isn't an option.
Their voting choice just have to have a "D" after their name.
