she spoke of "my Government" as if it were a person belonging to her the way a husband would

The culmination of leftist ideology. They would be DAMN PROUD to hear your anecdote.

Over and over we keep seeing people embracing a bad idea, fully aware of how badly it’s failed before and running with it, simply because they foolishly assume, like those before them, that it isn’t the idea that’s bad, it’s just that the right people haven’t tried it yet.

And each time, the masses celebrate their brave but old efforts as though they were brand new.

Of course, raising children and restructuring societies requires a lot of time so that, by the time the idea has failed once again, it becomes time to try it again just because we have such short attention spans.

If we could only get all these people in a program to reinvent dynamite before they could do any greater damage.

Some of these women are beginning to sue the sperm banks to reveal the anonymous identity of the male donor, and then going after the male donor in court for child support

I'm not urging Freepers to rush out and make a deposit at a sperm bank (although if they all donated it to the start of the quarterly fundraising drive...), but state law will control the question of the sperm donors rights and obligations. In Texas, the donor of either sperm, or an egg, is not a parent of a child conceived by assisted reproduction, except that a husband is the father of a child his wife conceives with his sperm by assisted reproduction -- or even with another man's sperm if the husband consents in writing.

Keep in mind that while a home "turkey baster" conception is assisted reproduction, there is no way to prove it later. If the woman suddenly decides she needs the donor to provide child support and health care insurance for her child, she is liable to claim the child was conceived the old fashioned way. The donor can protest all he wants, but faced with a child with no daddy, and a swearing match as to how that child came to be, the Court will almost surely err on the side of giving the child a daddy, and letting him, not the taxpayers, pick up the tab.

So if you do get involved in a situation like this this, make sure you first check your state's law, and second, use a reputable physician, not a 99 cent turkey baster.

the evidence suggests that more and more women are considering single parenthood.

Where I live, it seems like every person who has anything to do with children; educators, medical staff, social workers are female, and if they’re not female, if they happen to be male, they will have female overseers.
I resent the fact too that men are simply not allowed to use/hire “une mére porteuse”, a woman to carry a child. It’s simply forbidden, that’s all. Don’t children deserve a break from the constant drone of earth mother? Plus, considering the stock of available females, and considering their track records for bringing up children, maybe the above phrase should read, “the evidence suggests that more and more MEN are considering single parenthood”.

“Look around you. Sex does nothing of the sort.”

There is always some degree of selection in sex unless there is rape. In humans, nobody would have sex with ANYBODY.

Asexual animals can’t get rid of bad genes.

If you have multiple kids with differnt fathers do you get more child support? Does a judge look at what all the dads are paying and set it at what would be expected of one parent for all of them and they split it, or do they all have to pay individually?

Recently, there was a fellow on the tube who was an advocate for men who have been wrongly accused of fathering a child - easily proven one way or the other by a DNA test. Surveys have been conducted nationwide to find out how big a problem it might be.

Ready for the answer? You won't believe the numbers!

Thirty percent.

That's MILLIONS of men!

So all the crap about irresponsible fathers and deadbeat dads takes on a different light when the truth comes out.

There is always some degree of selection in sex unless there is rape.

Its a rather nasty subject, but from a purely evolutionary perspective, there is even sexual selection in rape. Granted it does not involves the consent of both parties, but the perpetrator requires certain traits to pull it off, including low morals, the perception that he can "get away with it", and some kind of physical or social power over the victim (one more reason not look to naturalism for ethics).

Reminds me of the old Steve Martin line, “I’m a very charitable kind of guy. I do a lot of work with unwed mothers, I help them to get their start.”

LOL For the most part the selection criteria seems to be "whoever will do it with me."
