LOS ANGELES - Bob Barker famously closed each episode of "The Price Is Right" with a pitch to spay and neuter pets. His successor is taking a stand on a more controversial subject: marijuana. Drew Carey won't tout toking up on "Price," but he defends the use of medical marijuana in a video posted online Thursday on Reason.tv.
"Smell that smell," the 49-year-old comedian says as he walks into a Los Angeles medical marijuana dispensary. "That's the smell of freedom."
The video is one of 20 Carey will host for the Reason Foundation, a nonprofit educational group whose ideas "some people call libertarian" and whose mission is to "advance freedom," said president David Nott.
Carey offered to produce brief documentaries on topics ranging from traffic congestion to immigration for the foundation's Web site, Nott said.
"Drew Carey connects with regular people. ... He has a regular guy's look at things, and that's why this seems like a great thing," he said. "We're interested in freedom across the spectrum, and good journalism about these subjects is important in the world of ideas."

And morphine hasnt killed many a patient suffering in a terminal illness?
OTC morphine?
************
I don’t recall Medicinal Marijuana being sold OTC.
“I would venture that the amount of people killed by pot is lower than ...”
Thank you for conceding that smoking pot can kill, as has killed, patients with compromised immune systems (such as cancer patients on chemo).
****************************
Pot has killed? Where are your statistics on that? Or are you just saying it because it just HAS to be true?
See my post #56.
Just 99.99% of it.
I dont recall Medicinal Marijuana being sold OTC.
Just 99.99% of it.

So was alchohol at one time. Or is that still considered OTC. I guess so. So I think you mean UNDER the counter, as the same as MM or Pot is now.
According to the article the research was paid for by the British Health Department. That is immediately one strike. NHS will try to do anything to lower their Gubmint paid health care costs.
I’d have to read the whole thing, but from the tone of the talking points, quoting a “40% increase”, it sounds like they just got a 1.40 relative risk and are pimping that.
Any study with a RR < 2.0 is a null study.
I cant think of which 60's icon I hate more
Jane Fonda
Or the pot leaf

Sorry but being a conservative and a Pothead is an oxymoron
Listen, assface (that’s a term of endearment where I come from), I haven’t smoked pot since the Reagan administration. The crap never agreed with me and just made me paranoid.
If you would like to have an intelligent discussion about bogus studies and health activism, I will be here.
If you would like to have an intelligent discussion about bogus studies and health activism, I will be here."
Well the lancet study points out how it makes people paranoid (Just Kidding).
Sorry to come down hard on you since you did have the appearance of belittling this study like most other pro-marijuana advocates do.
I work in the mental health field and I take personally all the willful ignorance surrounding this drug and despise it being minimized & advertised here at FR as an innocuous drug.
For many folks NIDA, Hazelden, WhiteHouse.gov and the DEA for some reason hasn't had much credibility with the usual critics. I guess we now have to throw in the British Health Department.
I agree with most all of your posts except your THC posts. You sound like a person I could sit down with and smoke a nice cigar with while crapping on the MSM and liberals.
I'm a regularly witnessing negative effects of Pot working with my clients along with the family problems resulting from marijuana and this drugs realities deserve no place in Conservatism.
I find it impossible to have intelligent discussions about marijuana. It would be equivalent to you or I having a rational debate with liberals on why we are in Iraq. I'm fighting a different battle with no support. My apologies for sounding like an assface.
I'm talking about a private individual engaging in a non-commercial activity completely within his state. It is not commerce. It is not interstate.
Yet you and I agree that Congress (via the FAA) may regulate his activities if and when those activities have a substantial effect on the interstate commerce (commercial flights) that Congress is constitutionally regulating.
Did you consider the possibility that if your clients/patients are in a mental health facility, that there is something wrong with them to begin with?
You have heard about the new warning labels on anti-depressants because some teenagers who take them committed suicide.
The drugs don’t cause depression, the people who are taking them are already depressed....that’s why they are taking them to begin with. The backwards logic is truly mindnumbing.
You know what I am talking about.
How is Gonzales v. Raich consistent with Lopez and Morrison? Also, why is the effectiveness of State law in this relevant (referring to Scalia's opinion)?
Nope. Medical dope is sold over the counter in the California "clinics", without a prescription or preparation by a pharmacist.
There isn't a multi-billion dollar interstate trade in fungible firearms.
Really? Property owners can't build above ground structures?
It must be nice to be able to simply invent your "facts" out of thin air.
