Overnight Islamic Republic have Wiped out 3000-Years of Iranian History

30 October 2007

Pol-Borideh after its destruction by the Islamic Republic Ministry of Road & Transportation"

LONDON, (CAIS) -- The destruction of one of the biggest historical sites in the Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari province by the Islamic Republic Ministry of Road and Transportation was reported by the Persian service of ISNA on Monday, October 22.

"Overnight %60 of the architectural and archeological remains of Pol-Borideh in Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari province is being destroyed to construct a road. The ancient site was registered on the National Heritage List", said Aliasghar Noruzi, an archeologist with provincial CHTO.

He stated: "The Ministry of Road and Transportation acted irresponsibly, and ignored all the previous warnings of the Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organisation, prior to launching the new Khuzestan Highway project."

According to Noruzi, the ancient site was a settlement next to an ancient route known as Arjan-Lordegan-Esphahan, which was in use during a number of historical periods. In addition there were a number of architectural remains dated back to 1000 BCE as well as pre-history which have already been identified in the area.

He stated: "despite all the previous meetings, communications and warnings, the authorities of the Ministry of Road and Transportation have chosen to ignore and in an unexpected move they have flattened and destroyed the historical site overnight."

He added "Lordegan was one of the most ancient cities in the region and in many historical accounts have talked about its prosperous past, but to this date we have not succeeded in identifying its original location, nonetheless, Pol-Borideh could have provided us with many invaluable answers and could have assisted archaeologists in finding the ancient city, but now we have lost that chance."

Another local archaeologist who wished to remain anonymous for his safety said: "Israel should not be worried about the [Islamic] regime's threat of wiping it out from the map, it is us [Iranians] who should be worried, as the regime is determined to wipe us out of the map."

He added "everyday this anti-Iranian regime is coming up with a new plot to destroy our heritage. One day our heritage is being threatened by dam projects, the next its road constructions. They claim these are development projects, if this is the case why is our heritage being destroyed in the darkness of night and in secret - and why don't they sit down with the cultural authorities to find a solution to carry out their so-called development projects, and at the same time safeguard our national heritage?"

And we have Jimmy Carter to thank for it.

Yes, indeed. I remember those years of the late 70's well. The papers were full of stories about how "rotten and corrupt" the Shah was and how "indecent" it was for the U.S. to support his regime. It was like how the media treated the Serbians in the Bosnian war - the Serbian side was portrayed as totally evil, and the Muslim Bosnians were portrayed as totally innocent victims.

That does make sense (if sense can be made).

Wow, those are incredible pics. It's a shame that a country with so much natural beauty and potential has been hijacked by islamic fanatics. Instead of creating a country that's a beacon of light, hope and prosperity in the middle east they have become the heart of darkness and hatred.

They need a revolution and we need to help them...or we'll have to destroy Iran before they have the capability of destroying our western friends, allies and us.

I am beginning to think this “heritage” stuff is hurting us all. It keeps people locked up with outdated prejudices. Look at America. Our heritage goes back only about 400 years. If we stopped the liberals from talking about slavery, then maybe the blacks could start moving forward. It appears that people only want to remember the bad stuff about the past, and forget the good things that move us forward.

The Iranian past isn’t Muslim — it’s Persian, Zoroastrian mostly I think. Makes it disposable.

“Instead of creating a country that’s a beacon of light, hope and prosperity ...”

That’s what it was becoming under the Shah. Iran was the exotic vacation spot for the rich and famous and anyone who could afford the trip.

“they have become the heart of darkness and hatred.”

You can begin to understand how once proud Iranians feel, knowing how their country was once viewed by the outside world, and how it’s viewed now.

“They need a revolution and we need to help them...”

Absolutely

Unless I'm mistaken, it's worse than that; "BCE" means "before the common era."

Just ask 'em innocently when the common era started.

Yeah, it’s BCE and ACE now for “Before the Common Era” and “After the Common Era”.

Which I find completely hilarious, because - aside from the birth of Christ and thusly the beginings of Christianity - I fail to find what’s so common about the “Common Era” that differed from 1 BCE, 0, and 1 ACE.

*will stick with BC and AC, thank you very much*

Maybe they were ashamed of that history? Just a theory.

I would imagine many Persians are balking at relating to the direction their country has taken.

You would be very correct.

You're welcome. I too don't tire of the pictures, the art, the music.... Someday, maybe, I'll be able to go see it myself.

What these poor Iranians don’t understand is that to a devout Muslim, the time before Islam is a period of paganism and darkness. Why, then, would anyone want to study or uncover the ruins of a dark and demonic past?

Yeah, it’s BCE and ACE now for “Before the Common Era” and “After the Common Era”.

Actually, it's BCE and CE.

Dear Iran,

We Americans happen to be very good at building highways, and we would love to help, but first we need to clear some land. Please expect our demo teams to begin work in the very near future. Feel free to take the day off and leave town, because we often kick up a bit of dust :)

The Indians would probably have something to say about that...

*smacks head* Oy, duh.

See, this is another reason why I don’t like BCE and CE! Makes things too confuzzling.

“What’s the plural for moose?”

“...moosen.”

*goes loopy*
