... Media Matters

The news media focus on presidential race stories over actual issues by about a seven-to-one margin. It's a complaint heard every four yeras - and backed up again this year in a new study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard University.

It also reports some interesting results about bias in TV reporting. It says Democrats received more total coverage than Republicans -and more positive coverage. Republicans got more negative coverage.

The survey found that stories on the Fox News Channel which tilted positive or negatiuve favored Republicans over Democrats - but that most Fox News stories were neutral - fovaoring neither party...

Things could be helped if Keith Olbermann's and Chris Matthews shows on MSNBC along with Wolf Blitzer's and Anderson Cooper's show on CNN were balanced out like Hannity & Colmes and Fox News Sunday, etc, etc.

IMO, idiot “social conservatives” and “values voters” of the Anti-Abortion Party are completely responsible for this by propagating DNC propaganda about Newt Gingrich (”too much baggage” = the DNC “divorce papers in the cancer ward” fairytale), and thereby killing, suffocating, and eliminating any possibility that the perverted and stupid election process and news coverage of 2008 will be any different than that of 2004, 2002, 1996, 1990, or take you pick.

Newt’s first agenda item (and the one that made him spit bullets) was to bring some dignity and intelligence to the election process. The press would have been forced to follow, not drive it.

One more instance of conservatives being screwed by these self-styled moralists who think we’re electing a bishop and not a President Of The United States (and thanks for GWB too!).

Morality is important. No one can write laws to protect society from every scheme hatched by abusive powerful people. Moral and ethical values is the only defense against abuse by officials. Look at history. There have been benign and principled kings who reigned as absolute monarchs, and ushered in a golden age for their kingdoms when such systems can easily produce despots. Look at Louisiana and New Orleans, who have corrupt and inept people in charge of a democracy. You ended up with bankruptcy and diseaster in a supposedly harmless form of government called democracy. The point of this illustration is good people can make imperfect systems of government do good things for their nation. Having a President with bishop like attributes would help this nation alot more than having one further from such attributes. BJ Clinton is an excellent example. The danger was not that he lied about sex, but if a hostile foreign government had gotten hold of such info before the Drudge Report, it would have been blackmail city.

If Brit Hume were running for president, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

When he sits in with the panel on their Sunday show, he gives reasoned answers that are well thought out....in sharp contrast to Juan Williams.

And he always keeps his cool.
