While Hillary Clinton was speaking out both sides of her mouth at last nights debate over the issue of drivers licenses for illegal aliens, what went unsaid is that this is a recipe for increased voter fraud.
Under the federal Motor Voter law (the National Voter Registration Act of 1993), states must provide applicants for drivers licenses with the opportunity to register to vote.
Giving legal drivers licenses to illegal immigrants is wrong and would provide them the opportunity to register to vote in our country. People who are not citizens of the United States should not be encouraged by pandering politicians to further break our laws and risk the health of our political system.
UPDATE: Fred spoke to reporters in San Jose today:
As far as Im concerned, I think giving drivers licenses to illegals is a bad idea for a lot of reasons. I think we have to quit inducing people to come and stay if theyre illegal.
I think its a disservice to the millions of people who stood in long lines around the world at American embassies to come here and play by the rules and become American citizens and become productive and great parts of our society.
But when youre making it easier, when youre providing sanctuary cities and telling your local officials that they cant even cooperate with federal authorities, and then saying its a federal responsibility, I think thats an irresponsible way to go,
Drivers licenses are the nearest thing to an ID card that weve got in this country. Your need your drivers license for everything. Why arent they being apprehended and sent home if they come in and announce that theyre illegal?
Weve either got to be serious enforcing our laws or not. I dont think we can afford to be selective in that regard.

More common sense from Fred. Hillary dancing around the issue last night was truly a thing to behold.
Kudos to Russert for at least trying to get a straight answer out of her.
Good grief and I was just reading a blurb about how FDT was not saying anything about HRC’s gaffe on driver licenses for illegals at last night’s dem debate.
A brilliant stroke by FDT, not only does it point out the error of HRC concerning driver licences for illegals but it also associates her with supporting potential ‘voter fraud’!
And believe me, in 2008, MoveOn, Acorn and many of Hillary’s union thugs are going to be creating votes out of thin air in every critical district they target.
And yet, CNN International at Noon Eastern today was giving Hillary glowing reviews for her debate peformance, and defending herself from those evil men....
In the end, those that control the propoganda organs are going to control the image...
AGREED...
IMHO, Democrat Voter Fraud is the greatest threat that this country faces, even beyond outside terrorism.
It threatens our very ideas of freedom and choice, and if we don’t start taking action NOW to counter it, we’re going to screw ourselves...
Give this man a cigar!
And FRed's stance on this is exactly what I expected.
FRed BUMP!
It’s so great to see a leading candidate address this issue. I’ve waited decades to see it.
Caption reads: “And they thought you were bad. Heh heh heh...”
Now there’s a photo op that would never take place if I were Bush.
Motor/Voter has always been about voter fraud just ask ole’ B-1 Bob out in San Diago.
ICBW, but I see the NY DL scam as just another skirmish in the DNC’s “Fifty State Strategy.”
The left wants illegals to have drivers licenses so that they can have accidents and we can’t sue them cuz they have no assets.
Also, so that they will thank the dems and vote for them.
He slammed Hillary pretty hard, but he also got this swipe in at Giuliani, too.
