This Halloween night Capital Research Center wants to remind you that scary organizations like The Center for Science in the Public Interest dont want you or your children to enjoy a night of sugar-filled fun.
Instead CSPI (website: www.cspi.org), a non-profit food watchdog group, wants you to hand out spooky plastic rings and temporary tattoos in lieu of Baby Ruths or Crunch Bars thereby ensuring the arrival of some fresh toilet paper in your tree by tomorrow morning. (See CSPIs press release in PDF form at http://cspinet.org/new/pdf/halloween.pdf.)
The creepy CSPI recommends that parents have their children save 5 treats to eat over the next 5 days rather than let excited children enjoy their candy.
CSPI doesnt seem to realize that most parents are sensible enough not to allow their children to gorge themselves on candy year round, but thats to be expected from an organization that wants to dictate what you should be allowed to eat.
Nanny groups like CSPI, RWJF, and MADD are more of a danger to liberty than Al Qaeda.
Would these “spooky plastic rings” come from China and be laced with lead? I think the candy is safer!
Oh good grief...I went to the linked website and they are just practical suggestions for health and safety. For the record, I give out “ghost” bags with coffin whistles, spider rings, black and orange superballs, puzzles and such every year to kids. The kids love them so much they beg to come to my house every year and the parents appreciate that they don’t have to worry about checking the candy. It’s not some evil conspiracy, for cripe’s sake.
[sarcasm]LOOK OUT! IT’S CAVITY, THE DANGEROUS MAN-BEAST SEXUAL PREDATOR THING, PATROLLING THE STREETS LOOKING TO ABDUCT LITTLE CHILDRENS! O NOES~! [/sarcasm]
Seriously, if parents were that concerned about having children eating too much candy, they would at least regulate the intake of after collecting the dues from the neighborhood homes.
[sarcasm]This has been brought to you in part by the Dental Association of America[/sarcasm]
I agree. My kids love going through their “loot” when they come home, but they’re not given free reign to ingest whatever their little hearts desire! And I’m not even worried about their teeth...just the vomit I would have to clean up!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government announced an 11th-hour recall Wednesday to warn consumers that fake Halloween teeth sold by the tens of thousands since last year contain excessive amounts of lead.
The $2 packages of “Ugly Teeth” are only the latest in a long line of Chinese-made toys and novelty items recalled because of lead. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Halloween, in a late-morning news release.
what does RWJF stand for? right wing jewish feminists?
If it were any other group I'd agree. But, then, CSPI is no ordinary group. They are the original food Nazi's who take controlling what you and your family eat very seriously.
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation - like MADD, Prohibition advocates.
Center for Silly Parading Idiots.
With CSPI it is; read their list of proscriptions.
I give the kids Reeses—Butterfingers—Snickers
At least they are getting peanuts and chocolate with the sugar
Both have health benefits
It's miniature Butterfingers, Baby Ruths, 100 Grands, and Nestle's Crunch bars at our house, rounded out with jack-o-lantern lollipops. I figure I've covered at least four of the major food groups; milk( nougat), chocolate, protein (nuts), and pure sugar. ;o)
What the kiddiewinks on the street don't get, our teenage son will consume over the next couple of weeks.
That’s just a sad picture - obviously aiming for the 400 pound adult son.
Great, the next day’s news will say those temporary tattoos are in fact LSD, aggghhhh!
