Fred has his own plan, and the MSM hates him for not dancing to their tune.

It’s a good strategy for Thompson not to attack Clinton. He needs to break away from the guys he’s tied with, Romney and Huckabee first.

Fred seems to have realized that the anti-illegal-immigration hill is the one with the best view to the White House. If he takes it, RudyMcRomney won't be able to dislodge him, given their respective histories, and Hillary is too beholden to the illegal lobby (witness her Spitzer dodge last night) to be able to attach him as well.

Despite what the nitwits at Gallup claim, the war, the economy and other such issues will not decide the election. Fighting illegal immigration will. It is the one issue that can draw labor Dems away from the party to vote for a pubbie.

Speaking the blunt truth about Slick Willard’s REAL record/agenda is a pretty damn good plan.

lol, I thought immigration was the ONLY thing Slick Willard hasn’t flip-flopped on. Guess I was wrong! Guns, taxes, abortion, gay “rights”...and now immigration. How special.

They're skipping Hillary and going straight for Romney.

Of course he is. He's not running against Clinton. Yet.

Making the primary campaign about Clinton plays into Giuliani's hands -- compared to her, even Rudy looks marginally acceptable, at least to enough people. Thompson is running for the GOP nomination now, the general election is a year away. Step one is to create a two-tier race, with only himself and Giuliani in the top tier. Then he can take Rudy down without worrying about his own base of support being fragmented.

This endorsement from Tom McClintock definitely caught the media off guard.

Time for Fred to go over the media`s head more often.

Go Fred go!

Here is how I see it...

MSM: “Senator Thompson, what is your statement on Hillary’s debate faux paux last night”?

Fred: “Conservative primary voters know what I think of her... they think the same thing. I’ll get around to her soon enough. Right now... I am running against other Republicans for our Party’s nomination. Her statements of last night have been critiqued to death... we know she is not qualified... Next question”.

Interesting strategy, albeit a bit ad hoc.

Fred's mixing it up with Romney and he'll have to go after Giuliani too. Fred's a little weak on guns and went along with McCain-Feingold (but repented it). But he has a good enough record in the Senate and the persona to overcome both Mitt and the leftwing mayor.

I still think his campaign doesn't have it together the way they should. I wonder if his organization can win or if we'll ever see Fred campaigning to maximum effect. I don't think we've seen what he's capable of yet.

“...Eh, scratch that. No sooner than I write that then I get an e-mail from Thompson’s campaign, offering a statement from campaign manager Bill Lacy on “Mitt Romney’s Real Record on Immigration.” Interesting. They’re skipping Hillary and going straight for Romney.”

Nomination first, tackle “Das Beast” in the general.

If Fred is so pro immigration enforcement, etc. why did he make these votes? And don’t give me the same excuse I got last time....”OMG! Numbersusa got something wrong once!”....It’s in all of Fred’s voting records, which you conveniently left out.

FRED THOMPSON ON IMMIGRATION

Voted in 1996 to continue chain migration

Voted to strip legal reforms from 1996 bill (but’s he’s bragging about voting for it...snicker.....)

Voted in favor of chain migration in 1996

oted for a foreign worker bill with no anti-fraud measures in 2000.

As Committee member, produced H-1B doubling bill in 1998

Voted in committee against including worker safeguards in H-1B bill in 1998

Voted to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998

Voted to grant amnesty to nearly one million illegal aliens from Nicaragua and Cuba in 1997

In 1996, removed higher fines for businesses which hire illegal aliens

Tried to kill voluntary pilot programs for workplace verification in 1996

"Once again today, Mitt Romney is proving he will do anything and say anything for political gain. The fact is, Mitt Romney called the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill 'reasonable' while the vast majority of conservative Republicans called it 'unacceptable.' No matter how many millions he spends trying to cover up his previous positions, Romney's record is to the left of the GOP base on immigration, just as it is on matters of life, gay rights and fiscal responsibility."

Yawn. Thompson campaign recycling anti-Romney hit points that were spread by anti-Romney folks 6 months ago here on FR. Not original. And being inaccurate about it too, such as "Romney's record is to the left of the GOP base on immigration" when he vetoed instate tuition for illegal aliens.

Indeed it would be better if they thought or commented about Hillary.

This issue, as part of overall security will be the number one issue. Fred just has to keep getting his message out around, through, over or under the MSM. I hope none of you believe the numbers being thrown around right now. Iowa is funny in that they change their minds right up to the night of the vote.

They do not want to be wrong and I can't believe the folks in Iowa will fall for the Romney shtick. Fred will come on strong when it is time. Right now, a great many people are just beginning to really pay attention. The folks in Iowa can't be fooled by this type of politics.

Fred Thompson is still my candidate, 100%.

From The Article: “The big news on Fred Thompson’s site is the endorsement of Tom McClintock, a popular and conservative state senator. Nothing on Hillary’s comment in the debates last night, although his immigration and border security plan is still high on the front page.”

I guess the author of this article did not bother to even read Fred’s statement made yesterday and posted here:
