MIAMI -- The parents of two South Florida teens who have been fighting deportation were forced to leave the United States on Tuesday.
Juan and Alex Gomez made national headlines in July when their family was arrested for being in the country illegally. Classmates of the Gomez brothers went to Washington, D.C., asking lawmakers to grant their asylum.
The family was temporarily released from federal custody, but on Tuesday, the Gomez brothers' mother, father and 84-year-old grandmother were forced to leave the United States.
They managed to find a place to live over here 17 years ago, just do the same thing when you get back home.
“would have been eligible for a hardship stay of deportation”
Good point. I did not know that part of the law.
(I am suspicious of any new bill in the House or Senate. What is in the fine print?)
Juan and Alex are illegal too, they should have been deported right along with them.
They were right, no need to tear families apart, deport them all.
Yeah : )
BTTT
“I wonder if htere is any way to tell if this family got any goodies from the taxpayers. (beyond free education. Didnt even learn English! LOL)
Food stamps?
Section 8 housing?
etc....”
Don’t wonder, they got the bennies!!
Still not speaking a word of English after seventeen years? GTFOOMC! Go pretend Colombia is the USA: find a Home Depot to stand in front of, ask all your buddies how to scam the welfare system and stay under the radar, etc.
To the distressed illegals, take a cab out to Chia (outside of Bogota) go into Andres Carne De Res and ask for a job. If you’re lucky you’ll get hired and have a ball every night of the week. Good luck!
A real tear jerker/sarc
Thanks. I was kinda angry when I posted that.
>> Colombian Family Living In U.S. Since 1990 Deported
Is this like wanding blue tops at airport security? I’m not impressed.
“And it only took 17 years.”
This “tragedy” (the length of time to evict them) has been caused by the flawed laws and the activist courts. The American people must understand this and not blame the prosecution, but demand that:
when someone is identified by ANY law enforcement authorities as not having legal standing to be here, THEY MUST BE DEPORTED IMMEDIATELY. If they want to pursue it in court, they can do so through the American embassy in their home country.
Several fewer votes for the Democrats.
These folks didn't want to become Americans, just live like them.
it has been a while but that has been around for decades.
Actually before 1996 it was actually only SIX years and the documentation requirements were far more lax. Since 1996 the requirements are much more stringent and your essentially can’t be subject of any felony cases where you were sentenced. Thus even if you do a “no contest” plea and do not have a TECHNICAL conviction, the USCIS will treat it the same as a conviction.
Only 12,999,998 to go, right?
This is true. I have a friend that is American and married to a Swiss man. They wanted to return to America but he was denied because of a conviction he had when he was 23. He pleaded no contest... (He is 45 now.)
Before you leave, could we have the $70 billion in health care back?

This is a travesty! The people should be allowed to stay in our country legal or not. /sarc.
