G.I. Joe was just a toy, wasn't he?
Las Vegas Review-Journal ^ | Oct. 28, 2007 | VIN SUPRYNOWICZ

Hollywood now proposes that in a new live-action movie based on the G.I. Joe toy line, Joe's -- well, "G.I." -- identity needs to be replaced by membership in an "international force based in Brussels." The IGN Entertainment news site reports Paramount is considering replacing our "real American hero" with "Action Man," member of an "international operations team."

Paramount will simply turn Joe's name into an acronym.

The show biz newspaper Variety reports: "G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity

Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity

Here's an acronym: T.R.A.M, Throw Rocks At Me.

I had one back in the early 70’s, came with dress blues and a white hat as well as jungle fatigues, guns, and then a few accessories. He got wounded and lost an arm and a foot, so I had to take up baseball.

Yes. This one is worth sitting down to and reading slowly and thoroughly. I’ve sent it to my list.

"Action Man,"

Not PC enough - needs to be "action person".

This is really nothing new. In the late 60’s there were soldiers from other countries including France, Germany, England labeled and sold as GI Joe.

Nice story and I'm thankful for men like Col. Paige, but that ain't his face on the famous G.I. Joe action figure. I just finished reading G.I. Joe: The Complete Story of America's Favorite Man of Action which is the definitive book on the toy by John Michlig complete with extensive contributions and a forward by the toy's creator, Don Levine from Hasbro. The original figure's head was created from the imagination of sculptor Phil Kraczkowski. He says "In the case of G.I. Joe, I never sketched anything out and I couldn't use myself as a model because I'm not that handsome. Like a lot of things I've sculpted, G.I. Joe came from within. I don't know how these things happen, but I just let the clay develop and when it ends up where I'm happy, that's it."

The ggenuine Hasbro G.I. Joe was, indeed, sold in different soldier configurations from WWII. Hasbro, which was a Jewish owned firm, had some internal debates about offering a German soldier, but they also had enough integrity to be consistent since they were offering Russian, Japanese and others as well. Oddly enough, they never received any complaints from the market place - different times.

Considering Hasbro is likely making him in China these days, Why Not?

If we can bag on Mattel for manufacturing in China, why not bag on Hasbro for letting this happen?

Hasbro was one of the first firms to use Asian labor right from day one of G.I. Joe. The originals were molded in Hong Kong and most of the clothes and accessories involved extensive handwork too expensive to make in their U.S. plants. G.I. Joe was the catalyst for Hasbro to make the jump to international manufacturing back in 1964.

Sorry, folks, but G.I. Joe always was, in reality, a soldier from east Asia.

Me too. No matter what, Joe is still iconic and the revisionism that the left likes to inflict on everything won’t sit well with many boomers. Mr. Phelps became a sell-out in ‘Mission Impossible’ but we all know that farcical piece of trash was just a wetdream of the lickspittle left. The real Mr. Briggs and Mr. Phelps will always kick lefty @ss!

UN JOE!

He’ll push for sanctions wherever there’s genocide
GI Joe is there!
GIJoe!
A Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity
GI Joe is there!

It’s GI Joe against American imperialism
Fighting to stay PC
He sometimes gives up, but you know he cares
Rarely effective, but the intention is there

GIJoe!
A Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity
GI Joe is there!

GI Joe is the code name for the UN’s Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity. It’s purpose: to defend the world against the imperialistic America, while occasionally knocking up local girls.

He sometimes gives up, and flees before the fight’s done. GI Joe won’t dare.

GI Joe!
A Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity
GI Joe!
