Picture this: After all the RAT barbs about Jeri Thompson's age and Rudy's three marriages, Hillary picks a 60-something running mate who is also thrice married--this time to a woman under 40.

The MSM wouldn't have an unkind word to say, but it's not gonna happen.

“He’s an unguided missile. He’d be too unpredictable.”

Absolutely; he would be competing with Her Highness for available oxygen. Never happen.

VA has to be considered a tossup state and that filthy Webb’s presence on the ticket could tip the balance.Assuming that there are no states that we lost in ‘04 that we could win next year we can’t afford to lose a single state that we took in ‘04.

We really need a pair of Senators at the top of the ticket? One is bad enough!

It sure didn't help Kerry.

One would think that his having written in his "novels" of underage boys performing unnatural sexual acts would turn many voters off in swing states.

Jim Webb is one of my senators. I did not vote for him.

He has got to be one of the most pompous, arrogant people in today's political scene.

No wonder Hillary likes him.

Let’s not overthink this article.

(1) It is in the WaPo. They like long articles on the front page.

(2) It should be something sorta new. And almost everything imaginable has been written about.

(3) Shalaigh Murray simply posits something no one else has taken seriously before. (With reason.)

(4) She makes the front page.

Agree - personally think she will pick the 'teddy bear', Richardson for his 'Hispanic' roots - and a man who will wear her 'shoe prints' well and easily. . .

. . .also, have to say, just mentioning Webb, should remind us just how ugly and crass the Demrat 'field' is. James Carville is their idea of 'classic'; and it is downhill from there.

Webb's political appeal is based on the fact that the combat veteran, acclaimed novelist and former Republican figured out how to unlock a conservative state with an antiwar populism that spoke to small-town and rural voters as well as the Democratic base.

What idiots.

The Rats are crooning about "unlocking" a conservative state when Webb won by a margin of 0.38 pct. over George Allen. Webb won because The Washington Post kept repeatedly hammering Allen, particularly with regards to the "macaca" incident.

And, although largely unproven, I would not be surprised if there was voter fraud occurring in Northern Virginia, especially in Fairfax County--areas that have high illegal alien populations. And yes, illegals have been caught voting before.

The Rats unlocked nothing. If anything, they showed two things: that they can not win unless they masquerade as conservatives; and that the Republican establishment has neither the cojones nor the message to win due to its obsession with political pandering and the fact that it is simply not conservative at all.

Other Northern Va. Freepers, please correct me if I am wrong (or if you think that I am wrong).

The Dems are looking for someone perceived as conservative to give their ultra-liberal presidential nominee a boost. Unfortunately for them, that means they’ve got few to chose from. In Webb’s case, they can have one of the most conservative Dems in the Congress, but with it comes the image of meanness.

I think Webb would make a great running mate for Rudy. Webb’s addition would make the ticket more conservative.
