CAMP SPEICHER, Iraq: The threat from al-Qaida in several former strongholds in Baghdad has been significantly reduced, but Iraqis face new threats from criminals who have established "almost mafia-like presence" in certain areas, the top U.S. commander in Iraq said Sunday.
Gen. David Petraeus said stressed, however, the terror organization remained "a very dangerous and very lethal enemy" and said the military would maintain pressure to keep them from regrouping.

That's true and it is **GREAT** news!
However, General Petraeus is warning us of a new danger to order there: mafia. Kidnappings in Iraq are up.
Still, that's better than having a bunch of nutballs self-detonating in crowded markets or at our check points.
I believe this because I have NOT heard news from Iraq except stories smuggled out in bottles of baby formula, for about a month. I guess the ratmedia thinks we don’t notice these things.
