I think that Dick Cheney’s contribution in both fund raising and actual campaigning is often under valued.
Wolfstar did a wonderful timeline of Katrina I thought I had it bookmarked but I cannot find it now. Do you have a link to it.
Laura: Because I vote Republican.
It's unusual for me, but I happened to catch FNS this morning before heading out to church and saw this interview. I thought Chris Wallace's performance was despicable. He essentially attempted to turn it into a plug for Hillary by framing his questions towards whether being a First Lady qualifies one for President and shouldn't she support a woman.
I like Mrs. Bush but I believe her responses were weak and she erred in taking the high road with Wallace. His questions were cheap shots and it would have been both easy and the right thing to do to jam them down Wallace's throat.
For example, to his comment But shes a woman, Laura! How can you not have an inkling of support for her?, a much better answer would have been:
"Voting for a candidate just because she's a woman is equally as contemptible as refusing to vote for a candidate because she's a woman. Both are examples of sexist bigotry, are unacceptable, and have no legitimate place in choosing our nation's leaders."
She then should have looked Wallace straight in the eye, smiled and asked: "Wouldn't you agree, Chris?
Lynn Cheney could have done it. Ann Coulter could have done it. But then, they both understand how and when to fight.
If you also remember... Blanco employed the Clinton ex-FEMA boss, James Lee Witt so she could counter Bush/FEMA advice. Witt went on to rake in exorbitant profits on no-bid contracts in the clean-up.
By the way first class post in Britain is 32 pence for a small letter which at current exchange rates is 64 cents and a large letter 44 pence 88 cents. So yours is much cheaper - what weight does yours go up to ours is 60g which is just over 2oz.
The other explanation is that whoever you have sent them to has been charged the excess postage and are too embarrassed if friends or family to mention it to you.
Laura Bush is doing diplomatic duties as First Lady being the wife of a head of State as opposed to the other roles that the President holds which are political/governmental and are party based.
I went to the post office and asked what my stamps were (it was something that HAD to go that day, and not be returned). The lady had to ask someone else - and neither seemed very sure.
Could be, but I'd call them vipers, and I still want to know which one will
be wearing the skirt, whomever THEEVILSHE may choose.
Late, nearly absent from the thread ... snoozing in after Halloween party where I was truly a stunning gypsy .. LOL.
Anyway, this exchange about made my week. Even tho he’s been Kennedy-ized a lot, God bless Gov. Arnold, for demonstrating the savvy of his wonderful role model, Ronald Reagan, in showing up the twisted agenda of the MSM with the tragic fires .. you’ll be smiling, I promise!
MUST SEE

I am overwhelmed by the enormity of it all.
LOL. Especially nice that it was Claire Shipman.
The folks at Morning Joe accused Arnold of “groping” her.
Thanks for the ping, I am so upset. I missed it. HOPEFULLY Raster will have it up.
If I recall, she admitted such. Either a slip or she was just damn proud of the Bush ‘shaft’!
Can be done, right ?
God bless her, I really think our
BK .. Barbara .. was THE conservative
one in that union. Ted does a great
and very professional JOB at his JOB,
but I’m not sure at all about his
conservative credentials. In fact, his
alliance with Rudy gives me distinctly
the opposite impression.
Ford was in the senate when asked to serve, I think. But, he was the VP first and he became president when Nixon resigned so technically he would be a VP who moved up.
