The poster in now way shape or form endorses
rioting in the streets or boycotting vendors
or hazing politicians who voted for more ethanol.

Barley and wheat prices have skyrocketed as more farmers plant corn to meet increasing demand for ethanol, while others plant feed crops to replace acres lost to corn.

Give full credit where credit is due: your federal government.

But think what the high pound and Euro have done to fine English ales and Belgian beers.
St. Peter’s Golden Ale has just hit $5.50 a bottle.

The odd thing is, last Saturday I went to the brew store to get ingredients for brewing, and although I expected to pay more, everything was the same price I’ve been paying for several years. $0.90/lb for two-row malted barley, $1.19/lb for domestic specialty grains, $1.79/lb for imported specialty grains, and $2.50 per 2 oz. package of loose hops.
It may just be that they make so much margin on us homebrewers that they haven’t had to adjust anything yet.

Time to brew your own! You bet! It's relatively easy to brew good beer, and you can brew just the styles you like, which may not even be available commercially.

The big brands should be OK, considering they are long on rice and short on barley and hops. Yuk.

I've been drinking Bitberger lately, which is $1.68 per 330ml bottle.
Of course, that's the state liquor store's price. You can't buy "strong beer" (above 3.2%) in the grocery store (gimme a break already!).
