I thought Elvis was cooler than this. Not only that, he cannot "croon" a la Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, or Mel Torme (someone needs to tell him that, and soon).

I’m a big Elvis Costello fan and this bugs me.

However, I listen to him for his music, not his politics.

Hillary is a communist for sure and if she ever got elected, her face would be everywhere. From schools to the post office.

Clinton's after-party jitters
BaltimoreSun(The Swamp)
by Glenn Thrush

After their big Beacon Theater fundraiser, Bill and Hill retired, with 100 -plus of their closest pals, for cocktails and thank-yous at the bordello-red Russian Tea Room on 57th Street in New York.

The gathering for the Clintons in the second-floor private dining room was more sober than the $1.5 million public event, however, with guests telling Newsday there was considerable fretting about Hillary's tough time ahead in Iowa.

Attendees celebrating the former first lady's 60h birthday included Billy Crystal, Ron "Opie" Howard, the campaign's financial godfather Alan Patricof -- and Miramax founder Harvey Weinstein, who left the party early with a leggy lady friend to order a bucket of Tea Room caviar -- to go.

There was also continued chatter about the fallout over the Norman Hsu scandal. Michael Lang, one of the creators of the '69 Woodstock festival, popped out of the party to shrug his shoulders over John McCain's jihad against Clinton's & Schumer's attempt to steer $1 million for an upstate museum honoring the festival.

Lang and other partygoers were still puzzling about Hsu, who allegedly bilked an investment group led by Lang's Woodstock co-creator Joel Rosenman out of $40 million.

"Where did all that money go? Where did it go?" he asked.

Glenn Thrush reports for Newsday, a Tribune Co. newspaper.

Me too. I saw him live a few weeks back and was, well... nonplussed to say the least. He did a symphonic version of "Watching the Detectives" that was truly good. "Pump it Up" and "Veronica" were solid but unremarkable. The remainder of the music was "new" stuff designed either to show his prowess as an arranger or to slam the US, the war, the president etc. Overall, it was a disappointment but thankfully only a couple hours.

Hold onto the old stuff but get the new stuff as cheap as you can. It's not worth it.

Those kind of questions will get you Ft. Marcy parked.

He loses $40 million to a con man and wants the US taxpayer to fund his “legacy” to the tune of $1million?

The original Woodstock festival was not an event of peace and love.

The Black Panthers and Abbie Hoffman met with the backers to persuade them to fork over $10,000 and permit them some free booths in exchange for not causing problems. Some would call that blackmail and protection money. Racketeering.

Then there were the arsonists who burned down the hamburger vendor’s booth. Then there were the agitators (I don’t recall which famous ones were spotted in the act) who tried to steal the rented film equipment from the crew’s locked trailer.

A bunch of violent crooks.

There used to be a picture on Diana Krall’s website where she meets Bill Clinton for the first time and his eyes are focused right down her dress

Perfect! Very orwellian indeed! Let’s hope future generations aren’t left wondering why we didn’t stop socialism when we had a chance, especially in light of what we knew about Stalin...
