While Fred Thompson travels the nation with his message of consistent conservatism and touts his border security and immigration reform proposal, a recent national tracking poll shows that Thompson has pulled into a virtual tie with Rudolph Giuliani. This poll further shows that Giuliani has lost almost a third of his support in the last 12 days.
In a separate Field Poll conducted in California, Giuliani's "support has eroded markedly among the party faithful, setting up the prospect of a shootout in February's primary," wrote the San Francisco Chronicle, dropping 10 points since August.
Earlier this week, a Rasmussen poll showed Giuliani and Thompson both statistically tied with Hillary in a head-to-head matchup in Ohio.
Have your party now, true believers...Hillary's buds will be playing trampoline on the Lincoln bed again (while Fred consoles his wife, "Honey, we didn't need this. Our life is great. I am kinda relieved really. I never wanted this thing.")
Rudy Giuliani 20%
Fred Thompson 19%
McCain 14%
Huckabee 12%
Romney 11%
No other Republican attracts more than 3% support while 18% are undecided.
Mr. Giuliani supported sanctuary city policies. Is there any sign that he's since renounced them?
Rudy is on record supporting judges like Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito. He worked with some of them at Justice, and I believe him when he says they are the constructionist model he'll look for.
Rudy's said he'd appoint "strict constructionist" judges, but I've seen no indication that he even knows what that means, beyond its use as a buzzword to appease conservatives.
Giuliani's definition of "federalism" seems to be that New York City is controlled by New York City; Southport, CT is controlled by New York City; etc. Do you think he'd appoint judges who would disagree with him about that?
...yes, especially conservatives who are averse to womanizing draft dodgers...
So Rudy is inevitable? A draft dodging serial adulterer as the nominee? Time to sit this one out.
