While Fred Thompson travels the nation with his message of consistent conservatism and touts his border security and immigration reform proposal, a recent national tracking poll shows that Thompson has pulled into a virtual tie with Rudolph Giuliani. This poll further shows that Giuliani has lost almost a third of his support in the last 12 days.
In a separate Field Poll conducted in California, Giuliani's "support has eroded markedly among the party faithful, setting up the prospect of a shootout in February's primary," wrote the San Francisco Chronicle, dropping 10 points since August.
Earlier this week, a Rasmussen poll showed Giuliani and Thompson both statistically tied with Hillary in a head-to-head matchup in Ohio.
I assume this is the Rasmusson poll. The author is being a little disingenuous in that not all polls are showing Rudy and Fred tied.
should somebody ping pissant ?
What’s with these Nat’l polls showing Romney so low?
I’m suspicious that many conservatives, like myself, simply don’t respond to polls at this stage.
Where’s the poll. I only see words.
People are finding out about Rudy’s real record and don’t like it.
The article clearly states it is a recent national poll. Says nothing about leading in all polls.
Do you have a land line? Most of the phone polling only happens on land lines right now. So, if you don’t answer your phone or you don’t have a land line you are not going to get hit with the phone polling. They figure people with land lines are in the “most likely to vote” demographic.
People (like myself) with only cell phones and/or VoIP are not currently being polled much via phone.
They might get you by e-mail. Zogby used to poll me via e-mail. I moved and have a new e-mail address, so I’m not doing that anymore.
Ahh, this explains the marked increase in Fred bashing by the media.
Thinks just aren’t going as planned by traitor media.
True. However, the Rasmussen has shown Fred in a much better position than most all other polls do. All I’m saying is that the author appears to be cherry picking.
I am not a Fred basher, just pointing out what I believe to be a less than straight forward report.
There was a good article a week or two that showed that if you dig into the "internals" of the other polls and look only at voters most likely to vote in the primary, that their numbers track with Rasmussen's pretty well. Couple that with Rasmussen being the most accurate pollster in both 2004 and 2006, and you can see why so many folks consider him to be more reliable than other polling services.
Ras has Fred in a better position, because Ras is the only polling outfit that drills down for actual likely primary/caucus voters, rather than Adults, registered voters, registered Republicans, or likely voters.
That’s why Ras is the most reliable of the polls, whether it says good things about your guy or not. It just so happens that Fred is my guy, but even if he wasn’t doing well there, Ras is the poll to watch.
It is good news! Anybody but Rudy and John.
Let him sleep, comfortable in his delusions.
